Hi VJ'ers!

Hypothetical question for you all.

If I were to be pregnant at the time of my medical exam and I opted to have the xrays deferred, what exactly does that mean? I mean, I get that the xrays wouldn't be done at the time of the exam, but what happens next?

Would my K1 application be put on hold until after the babe arrives and the xrays are done, or would I continue with the interview and POE as planned and then get xrays done after the babe arrives and we're in the US?

I'm not entirely sure of what the implications of deferring the xray would be, so any help or insight would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

If you look up the information about the medical exam on the website you will find that the xray will not be required if you are pregnant.

Taken from the Montreal Consulate explanation of what the medical will consist of and what exceptions there are.. it states in part..

SPECIAL MEDICAL CONDITIONS

If you are pregnant and do not wish to have the x-ray, a temporary exemption of the chest x-ray will be granted. To be granted the exemption, you must provide written certification of your pregnancy signed by your personal physician or obstetrician.

This is the link to that pdf document.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it! :)

I did read that actually, but I wondered, since it says "temporary exemption", how it works from that point on. I would hope the rest of the process would go as 'normal', but whether one would have the xray in the US and then forward it to USCIS, or... I don't know. I wondered if anyone had done it and what their story was.

the medical exam is valid up to one year... the "temporary" exemption would last as long as the medical is valid

YMMV
