Cheapest I've seen where I live is 2.35.

newjerseygasprices.com says the cheapest in this state is 2.15 at Vineland.. I don't even think I know where Vineland is.

Our local newspaper (Raleigh, NC) reported yesterday that gas could fall as low as $1.15 a gallon in the coming months !

The particular econimist that said gas could fall to 1.15 disclaimed that by discounting OPEC intervention, A conflict with Iran etc. He was basing it on overbought futures. I also beleive, that he was talking about the NYMEX price, not the pump price which, in Connecticut, is about 1.00 higher on average.

And again, Gas should cost a lot more, wed all be better off for it in the long run. This lifestyle is unsustainable over time.

It's gone down quite a bit here the last couple of days. It's now at $2.47. I'm hoping it will continue to go down. I'd like to see it at $1.15 but I don't think that's going to happen around here. We have some of the hightest gas tax around. We can drive 15 minutes into Tennessee and it's around $2.00 there.

I don't believe it to be a supply/demand issue at all. I believe it to be the oil companies or whoever can profit to trick the public into believing that there is a shortage thus the price is higher.

Demand increases in summer when driving travel is highest, and falls in autumn/winter. Notice that gas prices also rise in summer and then fall back somewhat.

In 1996, Dole tried using gas prices as ammunition for his election campaign--as he did it in early september, it backfired (prices fell shortly after, for which Clinton took undeserved credit).
