You just for to the SS office and apply for one. You are eligible as a K-1 entrant, but because you are married the SS office people might be confused and try to turn you away or think you are now a K-3, which is not true. Hopefully that doesn't happen - you are still eligible as a K-1 entrant who is married. If it does happen, ask for the supervisor. Good luck!

Passport with K-1 visa and valid I-94, marriage cert, and another form of ID. You might want to ask them if you are found in the SAVE database before you officially submit your application, just in case your entrance to the US hasn't been recorded yet. VJ recommends waiting around 2 weeks, but some people are successful going earlier. You want to try to avoid this "manual verification" process.

Here is the VJ SSN guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

You don't need SSN to file for AOS, though I imagine you want it for other things.

Edit: you only need the marriage cert if you are changing your name.

My husband and I went the same day since I had to change my info too. I recommend waiting a couple of weeks (we went 4 weeks after he arrived - wedding, etc) before you go because I heard that sometime, you may not be in the system for a couple of weeks once you come into the country, PLUS you need the marriage certificate.

He showed his I-94, our marriage certificate and that was it. He brought other things (like his military ID) but they didn't ask for it. The woman just entered some stuff into the computer, gave him like a receipt and we both got our SScards (my renewal and his brand spankin' new one) in the mail about 7 days later.

Hope that helps!

BTW: congrats on your interview!!!
