Move your cursor up to my avatar and when it says "Teddy is a pain in the #######" click your mouse.

We're a very diverse group here. And keep in mind it's only a handful of regulars who are participating in this thread. Now lets get another thousand or so users to jump in and we'll start looking for common ground. Personally I think they are on the right track with things and it will take a while to implement more changes. Bottom line is, no matter what, there are always going to be some unhappy people. It's impossible to please one person, let alone many. I'm speaking from experience. I'm married.

I hear ya bud. Belive me it's nothing personal. I am very disappointed in the turn this discussion took and I'm tired of the same one or two people whining like children and bringing nothing to the table. They throw gas on the fire, whine and threaten to leave, then come back and throw gas on the fire, then whine some more and threaten to leave. Just freakin leave already. I decided to take my frustration out on your siggy, my bad.

I would like to make a sugestion regarding signatures. Can we please either limit the size of them to very small or do away with them altogether? I just tried to catch up on some 8 pages of this thread and all I could see was the same ridiculous pictures under the same posters repeatedly. It's an inconvenience to people that don't want to see this stuff and it adds absolutely nothing to the site.

Actually, we do have size restrictions on signatures for the exact reason you quoted. If you would use the report button on one of the posts with the overly large signature and explain it is to report an excessively large signature, we'll address it.

Thanks

Edited to add: I see that the problem has been resolved. Cool, Karee! I didn't know about that feature either! thank you!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks Kathryn, I'm good now. I wasn't aware there was an option to click off signatures. :)

One post containing a personal attack, and two posts responding to same have been removed.

You can disagree with what someone writes but please do not make it personal. Please address the post, not the poster.

I find it odd that this thread has been completely dominated by P&R regulars. Ok, well, not that odd. I do understand that political/religious/racism/sexism/etc issues are going to create more controversy, but really? No clamoring for change in policy or moderation in the upper forums? None?

Almost makes the case for shutting down Current Events, doesn't it?

Then stop whining about it and use the ignore or do you need a tutorial on how to use that too?

They should.

Ewok. These sections are not needed and should be closed. This site is for visas. People can meet elsewhere.

I think there is a lot of rudeness in the upper forums and many condescending posts. As one who was at the beginning of the immigration process at one time, those kind of posts and replies do nothing but intimidate people and perhaps drive them away. Lot's of judging goes on. IMO, that is where the crackdown and zero tolerance policy needs to be applied. Some people need to take a break from the upper forums too instead of complaining about people asking the same questions over and over. I have the same advice there as I do in CE, if you don't like it' don't reply.

I've seen upper-forum denizens read this thread. They're just not posting. If they feel strongly enough about something, they'll jump in.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Some people keep their timelines updated in their signatures, I like to see those. I don't care to see the same tired pics and sometimes two, post after post.

So you telling me the King of Queens needs to go? I don't necessarily disagree with you. I get tired of some others also..

I think there is a don't display sig in user options ?? Maybe I am thinking of another board ?
