I was scheduled for 8:45 am, called at 9:10 am - I was walked to a totally different office, not 7-700 room #1 or #2 like most of the applicants - so don't get scared, it's just where my interviewer had his office, was out at 9:15am.

Literally, passed civics, english test, officer didn't even go over the whole application form, looked at my passport, GC and SS card, I signed few papers and that was it. Officer was extremely polite and friendly, had a little chat while doing the paperwork.

My case was 5 years residence based, nothing extraordinary - that's why he told me everything was so quick.

Was told to go to room 7-108. Had to wait for 3 hours for my oath letter. They call your name and then read last 3 digits of your GC if there are unclaimed oath letters.

Both rooms 7-700 and 7-108 were packed with people, very very busy.

I have to note, that this was my second time applying. First time - 3 years marriage based the same federal plaza - was scrutinized, called for a second interview, more evidence and eventually was denied without prejudice.

So for a marriage based case - bring everything and anything that has both of your names on it and might prove that it's a bona fide marriage.

Ahhhh thanks for the rundown. I think I'm as prepared as I'll ever be. I'm applying based on the 3 year marriage rule myself.

Finally I am a naturalized citizen in nyc, took my oath today in brooklyn cadman plaza courthouse. in detail story at http://myn400.blogspot.com/2012/02/oath.html

took my oath yesterday, there were 124 new citizens swarn in, the whole process lasted for about 2-2.5h

What a morning lol. I'm typing this up right after my interview on my phone.

Got up at 4:30 this morning cuz I was so anxious (my appointment was for 8am). Took the train to Federal Plaza, went through security and up to the 7th Fl. The waiting room is right off the elevator, you can't miss it. Handed in the letter and sat and waited. I must say though, it was kind of a let down. It looked like the DMV with so many people and almost NO ONE dressed up. So after about an hour waiting I got up to use the bathroom and asked the security guard if I'd be able to hear then call out the names outside and he goes "Don't worry just go ahead".

So I go and try to get back as quickly as possible, lo and behold my name is SCREAMING over the loud speaker. I could have killed him. NOT a good way to start. My IO was pissed, she kept saying "We got a lot of people today sir".

So we get to her office, I stand, take the oath and she gets right into my application. Rapid fire questions. She's still visibly annoyed and I'm answering sheepishly trying not to tick her off anymore. She warms up after about 5 mins and makes a joke THANKFULLY. We go through most of the questions, I sign my pictures (wish I took better ones...) and then she gives me three lines on a sheet of paper to read.

Then I write something she said. Unfortunately I was trying so hard to be good I can't remember anything. I just kept praying I wouldn't upset her again especially since she seemed to be warming up to me. All she asked for was my marriage certificate, selective service registration and certificate of disposition for a trespassing offense (I brought it up to her).

I passed everything and now I'm waiting on the oath letter. Word to the wise DO NOT LEAVE THE WAITING ROOM.

Forgive any typos or grammatical errors, the keyboard on my phone is tiny.

Finally i passed my interview today, it was very smooth and the officer was very courteous and professional. I am scheduled for an oath ceremony on MARCH 14TH at the ditrict court in brooklyn. I cant wait for that day to come, what a feeling to have such a huge step behind me.

Congratualtions to you Heliosphan.

I guess August filers will finally be all redddd.
