.Btw, We were told to wait 10 days before applying for a U.S. passport and to make sure we get a certified copy of the U.S. Naturalization certificate before sending off the original to the Dept of State for the U.S. passport.

Congrats from me, too, Aussie Girl.

One thing stood out in your story and it's quoted above. They really told you to make a copy of the Naturalization certificate??? I thought making a copy of this document was highly illegal and a federal violation. Did this recently change????

Thanks everyone.

I guess they said to wait 10 days to make sure the naturalization records are in the system.

They said to make sure to get a certified copy before sending the original for the US passport. They said the Dept of State needs the original and then it gets sent back with the U.S. passport. The copy they were talking about are those ones where a notary public looks at the original and stampsthe copy with a seal and certifying that it is a true copy of the original. They said its good to do this as a back-up just in case something happens. I read somewhere here that someone sent in their original certificate for the U.S. passport application and the certificate came back mutilated to pieces. Then they tried to get a copy from USCIS and guess what....it will cost $375 to get another certificate. I guess the USCIS have heard of the horror stories..

08/11/2011 - check cashed

08/16/2011 - received NOA (priority date 08/09/2011)

08/22/2011 - USCIS sent Fprint schedule

09/08/2011 - Fingerprinting appointment

10/07/2011 - Interview scheduled; Interview letter issued

11/15/2011 - Interview appointment - now a U.S. Citizen!

On November 17, 2011, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Finally had fingerprints on November 14th. Got a text msg yesterday that I am now sitting in the queue for the interview. I am really hoping the Anchorage office does the interview and oath on the same day. Cause $600+ for a plane ticket is getting spendy!!!

Hope my certificate would not be distroyed. i applied for US passport and gave them the origianl copy of certificate. Now, i'm worried. I should have research it here before applying. hope and praying that it still be the same.

Please forgive me for not posting sooner :blush: my husband had his interview 10/18/11 and his oath ceremony on 11/21/11, so we are approved.. thank you all for your hard work in answering our questions.. we are very happy.. thanks you :thumbs::dance::thumbs::dance: .. I will have to update my timeline too :star:

I received my Oath Ceremony notice on the 23rd (sent on the 21st). The Oath Ceremony is on December 2nd, a week from today. I didn't expect this to be so soon, so I assume that my request for an as-early-as-possible ceremony did make a difference.

Just one more week to go, Yay!

Should I be worried that I had my interview on 11/8. 'in queue' for Oath ceremony notice on 11/10 but no Oath date yet.

it says in the last update that Oath ceremony would be within 45 days of approval...are they just cutting it close? or am I being paranoid?

My wife had her interview on 11/7 and we are waiting for her oath ceremony notice also. We were hoping she would have her oath ceremony before the end of the year. Hopefully that is still possible.
