it seems that the east coast processing is not going anywhere..like as if it is on hold while those in the other area is on speed mode... I don't understand the logic behind it. One would think they would process in order of receipt. Does anyone know what could be the reason why the east coast had kind of slowed down? Even California is on fast mode...go figure.

THANK YOU!!! to+ for updating my post.

I do think they are being processed in the order received, but each office does their own. So an office like mine (Fort Smith, Arkansas) will be quicker because they have so few applications. I believe they get about 30 a month. Whereas NY probably gets 6000+ a month.

Timeline

When we submitted I-130 four years ago in 2007 USCIS stopped processing CR/IR visas because they wanted to process as many citizenship applications to give opportunity to vote in 2008. The backlog was about 6 months caused by huge influx of citizenship applications that summer. A lot of people submitted also because that summer USCIS doubled the citizenship application fees and many tried to bit that. We submitted our I -130 application in November and got our NOA1 in March (aka they opened it 6 months later, our timeline was 13 months instead of 5 months). Next year is an election year, so I assume we are going to have longer timelines since there is an incentive for people to apply. But our applications at least a priority. Thank God they didn't raise the fees this time and didn't create a frenzy all over again. Good luck to us all!

So I got the interview letter today. I find it strange that they don't want the spouse to go with you for the interview but they want all of the spouses papers.

Is that right?

Good news! I checked my son's and my status tonight and it now says:

Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from October 7, 2011, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance

has anyone checked their status using the NBC$xxxxxxxxxx number at the bottom left side of the NOA

I used that number and replaced the dollar with a * and found out the status as case lined up for interview , can anyone please confirm that this works ?

I check my status using the nbc* number by going to www.uscis.gov. I got that nbc* from the very first text message I got from USCIS letting me know they received our N-400 application. The weird thing is... when I checked my status the other day I could also check other people's. All I had to do was add or subract 1 less or more number from my own. That is how I found out numbers higher than mine which I am assuming submitted their application much later than me already had their interviews scheduled before mine did.

Hi,

Yes, it's works.yes.gif

I check my status at this website https://egov.uscis.gov

Which website did you use ?

I used the same website

but what was astonishing was that I got completely different results using the numbers

when I used the application number starting with NBC* i get " finger print notice sent "

when I used the NBC$ number at the bottom of the receipt and replaced the $ with a * , i get "placed in line for interview "

The NBC* number that I am using coincided with the NBC* number that is in the Application Number of the very first letter and fingerprinting letter we got from USCIS. They are showing us the correct status all the time when we use those NBC* number to check our status. We do have the NBC$ at the bottom but I don't think that has any importance. When we did our fingerprinting, I specifically took note of the NBC* to make sure the person who was doing our fingerprinting did not make any mistake. The person told me the system automatically puts our NBC* as our reference number so there would be no manual input therefore will always be correct.

NBC$ does have a significance , it is actually the Unique pay id which is tied to the application num , the unique pay id tracks the fee paid for the case.. uscis uses claims 4 mainframe system for n400 applications which uses these two numbers to track cases

I tried entering that NBC$ number at the bottom of my notices and replaced the $ with an * and it gave me the same status but the dates are off. I think its another person's status. The last 3 digit between my NBC* & NBC$ is 63 counts less than my application number. So I think what I was shown using that NBC$ is the status of another applicant. If what you are saying is true then there is a bug in the system. I am an IT person working for a Fed agency and the only way you would know the tie up between those numbers is if you are working on that application system. That's a pretty specific info on how the system works. Only the system people who works for that system normally would know those info you are talking about. :)
