I am a part time resident in Moscow Russia and am planning on getting married here in Russia to my Russian Fiancee. Could someone please tell me if we might be eligible for DCF here in Moscow?

If not then what is the fastest way to get my (soon to be) wife to the USA. I am new at this process and am just beginning to learn of all the options.

If I contact the colsulate here in Moscow will they be able to answer my questions adequately or will I just get the typical bureaucratic run around?

Thanks for your help.

Jeff

hey Jeff,

Before you contact Moscow, do a little bit of background work, and you'll get a better result.

1-Moscow has a USCIS Field Office & that's where you'll file I-130. Links & how to find them & their procedures are in the Guide.

2-Last word I had, 6 months residency is required. Due to your PT living arrangement, you may have the 'right' visa type, or sufficient evidence of residency. Let's assume they'll take your case.

3- Do check the Consulate's website under 'Immigrant Visas' and read *everything*. Look for language about 'filing the petition' and see if they list any specifics there. don't despair if not, many of the Consulates don't have much instruction for 'dcf' (unofficial name, remember that).

If you find something confusing, post back. Better to wait a couple of days til you realy understand how it works there.

If after all your reading you clearly qualify to file I-130 abroad, just do it. If they refuse your petition, it will not hurt any future chances, but you will have to file in the US.

bon chance!
