The normal procedure with spousal visa applications is, the NVC does a whole bunch of processing on your approved petition. With a fiance visa petition, the NVC basically just slap it in a folder with a case number on it and pass it straight on to the appropriate consulate in the beneficiary's home country. If they didn't send the petitioner letter telling you what they were doing, you'd never even know they had it - it's all behind the scenes. When the local consulate receives the petition from NVC, they will send the beneficiary a visa application packet.

I guess they've streamlined the process a little. If USCIS can generate their own A numbers without having to mail stuff to NVC, it may save a couple of weeks. It took us 3 weeks for our approved I-129F to get through NVC to Vancouver in January 2009.

If you don't get a Packet 3 in a few weeks, follow up with NVC and/or the consulate. But it sounds like everything is going reasonably normal. Congratulations!

Hi everyone..maybe you ca helpd me understand what is going on here....I thought when you get an NOA2 it went straight to the National Visa Center...On my NOA2 it says it was forwrded straight to the consulate listed. So i thought hmm, and called NVC, and the lady told me if your NOA2 says that then it did not come to them, but straight to the embassy.. Has this ever happened to anyone and if so why did it skip NVC (not that am complaining..just curious)

It says it is going to the consulate yes but it gets there via NVC. So here is what you do. You call the NVC number and give them your case number. That's the number that will begin with LND on your NOA2. Ask them if your case has been received and if yes has it been sent on to London and when. Once you have that info you can track it via DHL by doing this:

The NVC uses DHL to ship their packages. Once you confirm the date that the I-130 was sent, you can go on the DHL website to approximately track your case. There are forums here talking about it but I'll sum it up below.

1. http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef

2. In Reference, enter the info as follows:

EXP DD MMM YYYYA

EXP is constant

DD is the date before the day the NVC said they shipped the case.

MMM is the three letters representing the month the NVC shipped the case

YYYY is the year the NVC shipped the case

A is constant

For example, if the NVC says they shipped the case on July 19 2011, this would be entered as "EXP 11 FEB 2009A"

3. Date range for shipment - From: Enter the date of the day NVC said they sent the case

4. Date range for shipment - To: Enter todays date

5. Keep the rest of the fields blank

7. Once you enter the info, press "Track"

8. After a while you will see a list of all of the packages that left the NVC today. You need to search for the specific consulate, in your case London.

9. When you find the shipment the corresponds to your consulate, you will see the tracking number that you can record.

10. You can then track the shipment from the NVC to your specific Consulate"

Just a little FYI that bit of tracking information there has been circulated on VJ for a while so I cannot take credit for it :)

ALSO be aware packet three is just a link to a list of forms you need to print out and send back. You dont have to receive it to start filling it all in. You do however have to be sure your case is logged at the embassy and thst you have your medical booked before you can send it back. More info on that here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/320899-package-3/

Anyway hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions if you have them and also another great place for you to post is in the United Kingdom forum as every consulate is different peoples answers may not fit your country and so on :star:

Hiya SHELLY,

what happens when recieve your NOA2 approval of your KI-Visa petition is that it goes to, The State Department's National Visa Center,( wait a couple of weeks donot phone) The Petition the American Citizen will recieve a letter detailing that a I-129F petition for your fiance it gives the name and the INS Receipt Number, Case Number starting with LNDwith10digits, it states where the case will be processed thats the Consulate where the approval will be sent to. Once the approval petition is recieved and logged into the Consulate your Fiance will recive package 3 letter tell you where to down load the appropriate forms with full instructions etc. You need to give the consulate time to log your case , you can find out when it is logged into the consulate and when the package 3 letter was sent out by getting your petitioner in the USA to call the DOS # 202 663 1225 (MUST HAVE YOUR CASE NUMBER WHEN CALLING AS THEY WILL REQUEST IT)

Once you have your case number and they have logged your case at consulate schedule your medical, have all forms filled and collect documents needed for the interview, send package 3 forms off ASAP to the consulate with a cover letter with the date of your medical.Follow the information on the london cosulate web site, examples of how to fill package 3 forms are on this site under example of forms, straightforward.

Good luck, we are currently in the same process. got my medical scheduled for AUGUST, ( Postal Error causaed our package 3 letter from consulate to be sent to wrong address, so we have lost 1 month since approval hoping we get an appointment for the visa interview before the approval expires in October).
