What is the difference between a K3 Visa and a IR-1/CR-1 Visa?

K3 requires adjustment of status within 2 years of arrival in order to get a GC. IR1/CR1 you get a GC on entry.

IR1/CR1 is MUCH cheaper and a much better option over K3.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Thanks for the site. I can't believe I don't know which spousal visa we applied for!! I don't ever remember seeing K3 or IR1/CR1 at the top of any application we filled out. How do I figure this out? Should I call the NVC? Please advise the idiot here.

CR-1/IR-1 = form I-130

K-3 = from I-130 PLUS form I-129F.

I have seen posts floating around on here that Ghana takes a very long time to book interviews, you might want to check out the regional section and see in there how long its been taking for the interviews to be booked.

Based on activity over the last two years, CR1 visa candidates are waiting 12+ (emphasis on the +) months after their case has been closed for notification of an interview. We are hoping and praying that some recent activity we have seen is a sign that things are starting to move again. There are just not enough Ghana visa members on vj to get a reasonable feel for what is happening except for the fact that people are still waiting for interviews as far back as cases closed in April, 2010.

Staying strong and patient in love and faith!

If you have been mailing ANYTHING to the National Visa Center, then it is in connection with a CR1 or IR1 visa, not a K3. IR1 is for people already married for two years or more. Otherwise, it's CR1. The visa category is not mentioned on any forms.
