"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Thank you ALL!

Any recommendations on shipping vs paying for extra baggage?

FEDEX and UPS are ridiculously over priced. Haven't checked DHL yet

Someone said its usually cheaper to just pay the fee at the airport but she is saying that they may want to charge for an additional seat

thank you!

I'm sure thumbing through the other forums would be the same if they'd post their real pics instead of cartoon characters or just their eyeballs.

We used Meest and yes it was for a ton of books that my wife wouldn't leave behind either. In fact she went and stocked up before leaving because she was sure she'd never have access to another book in her native language ever again. ;) Anyway...we always had great luck with Meest and found them to be very reasonable. We also had the max amount of luggage we could bring (in terms of size, weight, AND number haha) and a cat and dog.

Just being modest I'm sure. I mean who doesn't like cartoon characters.

Congratulations!!!!

Kilogram for kilogram, it's going to be cheaper to just pay for the extra luggage rather than Fedex/UPS/DHL. We occasionally will use DHL, but the costs add up quick.

That sucks. :\ And you know that if you'd have just come earlier or later and got a different person, it would have been a completely different experience. You can never count on consistency. It's a different world over there, ain't it?

What did you guys decide to do about the additional luggage? My fiancee will hopefully have her K1 interview in a month or so and we're trying to figure out how to get her stuff to US without going bankrupt. My understanding is that Meest doesn't do Russia to US parcels anymore, just US to Russia. I checked with Russian Post and they said it's about $120 to ship a 20kg parcel with seamail, $250 for airmail.
