Yup. I was shocked that even though USCIS took forever to pass our case to NVC, once we were at NVC and then the embassy, BAM, we had our interview in less than a month!

Congrats!!

Anna has her interview on the same day in Kiev. I'll be in the Ukraine to get her and bring her back on 09/02 and we'll be back in Los Angeles on the 9th...after spending 2-3 days in New York! :)

Any recommendations on shipping vs paying for extra baggage?

FEDEX and UPS are ridiculously over priced. Haven't checked DHL yet

Someone said its usually cheaper to just pay the fee at the airport but she is saying that they may want to charge for an additional seat

Depends on how much you are taking. The problem with Aeroflot that it is ridiculously expensive if you are overweight. What is the weight?

In this case you will be fine. Look up aeroflot guidelines online. We were traveling together (!) after the interview and still ended up pretty much dumping all her stuff. It turned out that it is cheaper to buy in US rather than sending via courier service or taking it on aeroflot. For any overweight you will pay $200-300.. Ridiculous. probably the most expensive overweight fees out of all airlines. I would take only the most important stuff. If you still have to ship a lot of stuff and do not care if it takes up to 2 months try freight companies that do this. Plenty online.

Yeah... they have ridiculous rates.... I told her not to take anything but she has books that she will not part with.... i think they do have book rates on those.... we'll see.. i just dont want to get screwed on the fees..

I would suggest this - let her get only necessary stuff (memories in a head, love in a heart - ready, set, go!) and leave everything behind. She'll realize soon that 'that everything=50kg was baraxlo'. Did you tell her how many Russian book stores in LA? She would not loose/change her identity w/o that 'part'

We're a week behind. But I'm happy, too!
