I give you permission to use my name for the poll. I've worked on a lot of sexuality studies with profs so I know what's up with other people.

Your a good sport Amby...even if your beliefs are a little messed up. :)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

"Bigotry" is his pat answer to anything he disagrees with.

I just wonder how flexible "his" viewpoints are?

bigoted |ˈbigətid|

adjective

obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinions : a bigoted group of reactionaries.

I guess in the same way -critics of gay sex must therefore be homosexual...

Those obsessed by bigotry.... must themselves be afflicted by it as well.

Keep skirting the topic champ.

I proudly pronounce my distaste for those willing to discriminate against others. If that makes me a bigot, I open the label with open arms. Are you a bigot on the sexual orientation front? Be concise in an answer.

You may do well reading the actual law and giving us an opinion, as that is the topic instead of trying to weasel in a silly cheapshot that makes no bearing for any honest and courageous discussion.

You would know all about "cheap shots" on here.

So we accept the homosexual lifestyle as normal ya? And tomorrow we can accept people marrying their dogs, sheep, etc.. correct? I mean why leave anyone out eh?

Indeed I do, and I have no problem exploiting them when in the proper context. Something you lack much experience in, unfortunately- I mean, look you at you whining and whining while still clueless about the law itself. That's pretty pathetic IMO.

It was only a matter of time your ignorance of the law you started in the OP with ranting (as usual), you'd start with a slippery slope line of reasoning.

Danno, if generalising about an entire group of people using loaded phrases like 'freaks' and 'mentally deranged' doesn't amount to bigotry in your eyes, it seems clear that you need a new dictionary!

Again a freak is a freak...and someone with mental health issues has mental health issues. The "gay lifestyle" is a lifestyle of a bunch of mentally deranged people.

Again kip, you're trying your best to troll people but you need to get a new argument since repeating the previous one ad infinitum isn't having the desired effect.

Perhaps a bit more detail qualifying your disgust is in order? Perhaps there's a pseudo scientific rationale you can wrap it around.

Kip - I think more people would accept your POV as your genuine opinion if you actually explained yourself more. Saying stuff like "doing gay #######" and calling homosexuals mentally ill is not the way to make people understand why you feel the way you feel.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I see you waving your arms at an amorphous generalization of an entire generation. Not trying to be coy with you on this as we usually are here, but your assessment is completely out of the ballpark. You should take heed of your 'road to hell' metaphor a little bit when considering the incompleteness of wishing for an equal society of treatment that has no idea of where to start in treating itself due to an ignorance of historical reality.

The assessment isn't out of the ballpark at all. That's the problem and something that's very disturbing about the younger generations here. The 25 and under crowd is disturbingly racist and disturbingly bigoted in many ways that you don't want to imagine.

In regards to history, that's what you don't get. That "historical reality" has never changed here in the United States. Segregation is alive and well today. Not because of a lack of wanting 'equality' in society, but because of a lack of realizing how to get there without pointing fingers of who's who and what's what.

You want to cure the ills of a society that isn't ethnocentric? You have to stop pointing out that we aren't ethnocentric.

I'm not saying we need a forced society of monotone people like North Korea. I'm saying we need to stop focusing on what's different about people and start realizing that we are all indeed still people. Who have the same beliefs, the same talents, etc. and the things that are different are based on choice, not on the color of our skin. You cannot do that however if you keep pointing out the color of the skin of whomever is doing an activity, making a speech, trying to get an education, etc.

As long as you point out the differences, then people are going to be treated differently.

Let me help you realize your post doesn't make sense.

The assessment isn't out of the ballpark at all. That's the problem and something that's very disturbing about the younger generations here. The 25 and under crowd is disturbingly racist and disturbingly bigoted in many ways that you don't want to imagine.

You need to be specific, Paul. Not making generalized statements as 10 to 1 others would say totally the opposite, and I would agree with them, in that the quantity of racist individuals is less now than what it was in the past. If you have actual information to the contrary, now would be the time to share it. Otherwise, you're not making any sense at all. Perhaps you are confusing the magnitude of the racist rhetoric coming from trolls in society?

In regards to history, that's what you don't get. That "historical reality" has never changed here in the United States. Segregation is alive and well today. Not because of a lack of wanting 'equality' in society, but because of a lack of realizing how to get there without pointing fingers of who's who and what's what.

Indeed, its still around. Is it any less or more? I say less. If you need a refresher about segregation in the nation, as it turns to race at least, its been generally same old, same old. But is that based on race or is it the economic repercussion of race in the past? There is a difference. Differentiate them. Then you'll make historical sense.

You want to cure the ills of a society that isn't ethnocentric? You have to stop pointing out that we aren't ethnocentric.

I am not sure where you're getting that- but it isn't what I have pointed to. I hope you're not reading someone else and crossing cables once again...

I'm not saying we need a forced society of monotone people like North Korea. I agree. We need to be people first. I only wish you would share that with the bigots around us. In fact, that is what anti-discriminatory statutes aim to do: allow people to achieve equally based on access equality, not an assumption that everyone has an ability based on history that is equal. Its like inviting someone to dinner but not opening the door for them.

As long as you point out the differences, then people are going to be treated differently.

Differences enrich as well. Its when we allow ourselves to become burdened by angry people that have an obvious problem with those differences, that those enriching differences become a problem. Treatment depends on he who treats, not on he who observes.

Hopefully the text in red clarifies things for you. I am not sure where you are getting some of your conclusions in this discussion, but they are seriously flawed in logic.

Segregation is alive and well today.

Well, yes, but not along the lines you are thinking of. The lines are not about skin color like they once were, they are more ideological. The left feels threatened by those they consider the bigots on the right, yet most on the right don't care, except for a few loons that nobody wants to be associated with. However, the left seems to revel in their purity of purpose, although if they would just STFU, nobody would really notice, except their kids, that would stop be embarrassed by mom(s) and/or dad(s), and/or new mom who used to be old dad.

As far as the original topic, I think the US pays too much attention to who is attracted to what. If two guys want to swap spit, no big deal. But, do we have to know that some great orator was as ####### as a three dollar bill if it didn't seem to matter in his public life? Don't sweep the issue under the carpet, but don't elevate it to the point that it obscures a man's true talents, or evil deeds. For someone like Harvey Milk, his being a homosexual was relevant. The fact that Edgar wore dresses late at night doesn't change the fact that he used the FBI to affect American politics. Which is the more important lesson to learn in history?

This is what amazes me. What's to explain? If a rock falls out of the sky...it falls out of the sky. If someone has some mental health issues...they have mental health issues.

Again, and not to be crude...but more like blunt to the blind on here...if some chick or some guy wants to hump or be humped by someone of the same sex...somethings fcked up there imo. It gets even worse when they let these "people with issues" adopt kids. Kind of like Michael Jackson and his "Play Land".

I mean were any of us here born yesterday?

see the blue... hopefully it helps.

The assessment isn't out of the ballpark at all. That's the problem and something that's very disturbing about the younger generations here. The 25 and under crowd is disturbingly racist and disturbingly bigoted in many ways that you don't want to imagine.

You need to be specific, Paul. 10 to 1 others aren't going to admit they are racists either. Sit down and talk to the younger generation. Get a feel on how they 'feel' about the 'black community' especially. It's not a pretty picture. Not one that anyone would dare want to see. We're not talking about people you think could be bigots and racists either. We're talking your average, run of the mill young adult who's been surrounded by the part of society that keeps beating into his/her head that certain 'communities' need to be treated a certain way. Perhaps it's not true racism, but it's a huge resentment that comes out as racism.

You know what I mean here on segregation. From the way we treat certain communities in regards to welfare versus actually helping them get on their feet, to letting violence be the way out for many helpless youths.... It's alive and well, and in many ways just as bad as it was supposed to have ended long ago.

You want to cure the ills of a society that isn't ethnocentric? You have to stop pointing out that we aren't ethnocentric.

I am not sure where you're getting that- but it isn't what I have pointed to. I hope you're not reading someone else and crossing cables once again...

I wasn't referring to "you" here as in you.. I meant the "you" as in we all/society.

I'm not saying we need a forced society of monotone people like North Korea. I'm saying we need to stop focusing on what's different about people and start realizing that we are all indeed still people. Who have the same beliefs, the same talents, etc. and the things that are different are based on choice, not on the color of our skin. access equality exists. However we still act today like it's not. It's not about telling the bigots in society that, it's about telling people who have turned into bigots/racists or just those who are resenting the fact that people of a certain community are treated differently by law. We've tried that before and it didn't work, yet we still practice it today and it's failing in creating equality, because at the end of the day, it's truly not equal.

As long as you point out the differences, then people are going to be treated differently.

Differences enrich as well. Its when we allow ourselves to become burdened by angry people that have an obvious problem with those differences, that those enriching differences become a problem. Treatment depends on he who treats, not on he who observes.

There's a difference in "differences in activity" and "differences in look." The problem comes when you focus on differences in look. Visual imagery is everything in society. Not to everyone, but the vast majority.
