you should have asked them who will schedule the interview because from what i knew from a friend they are the ones who will cancel the interview date.

Sputum test i think will take 1 to 2 months, just hang on its just a test, before you knew it its over and done.

We just went thru this ...You don't have to wait for your packet 4 to arrive to go to your medical. Once you have your Case number (NVC assigns this) and your file arrives at the embassy, you can go to St Lukes for the medical. If St Lukes puts you on SPUTUM Hold they will notify the embassy. Now here is a fact I learned. The smear test that you do the first three days of the SPUTUM Test if that comes back negative (You know in about a week) then you have about a 96% chance that your 2 month culture test will come back negative as well. Once the two months is up you call the hospital reschedule an appointment with the st lukes complete the physical in one day (if sputum is negative), once St Lukes says you have passed your medical, go online and schedule your interview.

This is what we have had to do

St Lukes will conduct 3 consecutive days of sputum tests. After the 3rd day, the applicant will be scheduled for a PULMONARY EVALUATION. On the day of the evaluation, they will tell you if the result is negative or positive. If it is positive, the applicant will undergo to months of treatment. If negative, the staff will advise you to wait for 2 months because they will "culture" the sputum in order to be sure that you dont have the contagious type of TB virus. They will tell you to call them after 2 months to follow-up the results.

If there is a scheduled embassy interview within this 2 month period, SLMEC will tell you that they will inform the US embassy about your medical status. Therefore, your embassy interview will be postponed.

After 2 months and the findings is really negative (yeheeey!!!), they will give the applicant a vaccination within the day you found out the good results. St Lukes will then schedule your embassy interview within 5-8 days.

You will not pay for the sputum tests...

God bless you mother....
