My hubby and I live in the same house he used to share with his ex-wife. When they divorced it was she who moved and Rick stayed because the house comes with the job of being the caretaker of the farm. Since his ex knows sweet ####### all about taking care of the farm and it was Rick who did it all, then it stood to reason that she move. So she bought a home with her mother and lives an hour away....

Anyway. we also have the same phone number that Rick has had at this address for over 20 years....and that particular phone rang after dinner tonight...

Me: Hello?

Woman's voice: Brenda?

Me: Ummmm nooooooo.....

Woman's voice: Oh! Is this 555-5555...the Starr residence...do I have the right number?

Me: Oh yes, you have the right number all right *ahem* but Brenda is my husband Rick's EX wife! Brenda hasn't lived here for over 7 years now.

You shoulda heard her stammer and stutter and apologize hahaha that's what ended up making me laugh. :D

She was some woman who used to rent the old farmhouse years ago and was calling Rick to see if she could come just to take a quick visit around the land and rekindle old memories, since she was going to be travelling this way.

So how would you have handled a situation like that? Just curious to see the different reactions...lol

I'm laughing because I experienced a similar situation a few weeks ago. I was the one who moved out (4 years ago) of the house I shared with my ex (who also happens to be named Rick!) and his wife, Jill, clearly has the same first initial as I do. I didn't change my last name after the divorce, so she and I now also have the same last name... and subsequently, the same initials.

My phone rang and the caller, said, "Hi Jill.... this is... blah blah blah."

"This is not Jill," I said.

"Can I speak to Jill?" the caller asked.

"You can if you call my ex-husband's house," I said.

Silence. You could tell that it took a minute for it to sink in and then I heard, 'click'. She must've been speechless.

I've had people tell me that when she introduces herself, she is often asked whether she is related to me. The same people say that she generally answers that she is not... she tells them that she is "JT #2". Ha!

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
