To Simpson.

As it is all about the fetus for you, I did not feel the need to argue for the benefit of the fetus side. Since you are asking, here you go:

Fetuses have high mortality rate. 20-25% estimated within 9 months (that is the natural rate).

Its not all about the unborn baby for me, I just want to bring it into the equation. With everyone here on the boards its all about how it will affect the woman.

Fetuses can't really make a choice. They don't know if they want to live or not. For example, for a fetus with a Down syndrome or blindness, what would they choose, do you know? For a fetus that is to be born or adopted into abusive family, what would they choose? May be you would choose life regardless. I certainly would choose death in the 1st trimester if I knew I were to face a hardship like that. Depends on individual, you see. And since they can't decide, next qualified person is the mother.

I dont have a black and white view on this issue, I feel that how the law now stands is very black and white. Sure there's exceptions to the rule and I can see the need for a abortion. Some confused teenager that made a "mistake" is not what I would classify as a exception especially considering that adoption is a option and that another life is involved.

Yes, if someone decided to have an abortion in the 3rd trimester on a whim, it is wrong, probably illegal and unfair to the fetus. How often is this done? Probably almost never.

But when this happens would you will be willing to tell the woman that never again will she be able to do this? Probably not and that is my point. Also when does it become wrong in your book? Say a woman decides to keep the baby and after birth decides it was a mistake and doesnt want it. Should she be able dispose of it, of course not. What changes from 1 month before birth to 1 month after birth, location not moral significance, right? Now because a woman should have all the choices she wants you argue that I should be on board with corrupt logic, I think not.

Put a price on someone's head? Not at all. It is simply what you have or not have. If woman has chronic health problems (asthma, diabetes, HIV) and no insurance, it is clear that having a healthy baby without prenatal care is pretty much impossible. If mother does not have the money... that's the end of the game, or it should be.

I understand there is exceptions to the rule but I could never agree that being poor is a excuse for terminating a life.

Rapist should be locked up? But of course. Yet (despite my opinion) I have no rights to determine what should be done with his body (remove his testicles). Equally, I will not support death penalty under any circumstance - I am not arguing for no boundaries. I am just saying that I do not feel the need to dictate what will be done to OTHER'S bodies. YOU DO. I wonder why. You apparently know little about pregnancy and never been pregnant yourself. So what's your qualification to argue for fetus's vs woman's rights?

You are telling him what to do with his body! You are telling him that he must keep his body in prison. This argument doesn't work because your not dealing with the moral issue of it. Why does limited choices(note I dont want to take away all choices) of a woman trump a unborn baby's want to live.

As far as qualifications go I would say that I have 36 years of breathing air that qualify me. I understand how important it is to protect life especially for those who cant speak for themselves.

At this point in my life, I wouldn't have an abortion. I would never force that opinion on anyone else though. I have never been faced with a teenage pregnancy, but I hope as a teen I would have made the decision to go the adoption route. I have never been pregnant as the result of a rape, but I would hope that I could carry that child with no issues and again use adoption. I have never had a pregnancy that threatened my life, and I am not sure how I would have handled that if I already had children. I have been faced with the possibility of a child with Down-syndrome and although it was just a scare, I had decided I would carry the baby to term. The reason I don't feel I can force my opinion on anyone else is because I have ALWAYS had a choice if I needed it. I don't know what my choices would have been if I had found myself needing one....but I am glad that I had them.

Its a complicated issue and need to address it as such.

Yeah but Simpson you don't address it as a complicated issue, since you offer a one size fits all solution over and over again.

There are people in the world who like to eat the exact same meal everyday. Most people I think want a choice.

Get it through your head, noone wants to eat your turgid meatloaf.
