you could just get married at a hardware store like a friend of mine did, lol.

Or Costco, like a friend of mine is planning next month.

Me and my Fiancee are splitting everything 50/50 because our families dont have a lot. Also if you think about it we will be married and whats mine is hers and whats hers is mine, the money is going into 1 bank account so even if i said im paying for the wedding the money is still coming from 1 place.

I dont want to be a pain asking about this thing to my fiance since he is a Native American coz i dont want us to have a misunderstanding about this matter , Since we are both new to this upcoming marriage ....i want to know who really pays for the wedding to say that my fiance is part of the Siouxe Tribe .... i heard from a friend of a friend of a friend lol what ever it is that normally in their place the womans parents pays for the wedding bills .... i dont know how tru this thing is coz in the Philippines as of what i know and tradition ally the man and his family pays for everything and stuff ... Someone could give me any idea how to start approaching to this matter since my family doesnt really come from a well off family also its not our traditional settings for this matter ...

Yes it's the bride/bride's family who pays for most of the wedding. But i'm blessed with my fiance's family because they are the ones paying for most of the wedding because my fiance explained to his parents that my family is not that well-off to financially help out. But I'm taking care of all the things i need like gown, shoes, etc. :-) Then my fiance will take care of the wedding rings, his tux and the honeymoon. The rest that i didn't mention will be taken cared of by his parents. We're also not having a big wedding....just a very simple and intimate one with few guests. :)

So I guess you just need to be honest with your fiance on how much you can contribute. I'm sure he'll understand that. Just be honest with him. God bless on your preparations! :)

As a Bishop, I would fully accept whiskey over cash payment...after all, the cash would eventually go to whiskey anyways...:innocent:

There is nothing traditional about your engagement, why do you have to be traditional about your wedding? Ask your fiance if there's any dreams he has about getting married. If he wants to get married in the Sioux tradition, it's quite likely that his tribe will take care of planning everything for you. Remember, you don't have a lot of time to plan, so you have to get creative.

Ask him if you should be thinking about a traditional wedding with him, or if you two need to discuss alternate options, even a destination wedding. Once you get things talking about what kind of wedding you both want, then you can open the door to ask him, how will we pay for this on top of the Visa/AOS costs. You can plan on a small wedding, or even a courthouse ceremony now and something big later, and yes, while the marriage is the goal, and more important than the wedding, the wedding is the celebration of the marriage, and very important in it's own right. I am not saying to bankrupt yourself, but be very creative in cutting costs, and looking up alternate venues. A friend of mine got married in a cemetary chapel, it was large enough, and cost a lot less than a traditional venue, and it was available with a lot less notice. Another friend dragged a minister to the beach, drew a heart in the sand and her and her fiance stood in the heart and got married with the sun shining on the water beside them. Jeans rolled up, bare feet in the sand... and suited them perfectly!

The most important thing for you both is that you do this together. Plan to pay for it yourself, and then ask the families if they are willing to contribute.
