Can you specify how McDonalds is not good for you? I know what you are trying to say- but be specific when addressing how a company is not good for its customers.

No degree in nutrition is required to get that, but still you must realize that there has to be something in the food itself that is not healthy, right? Is it an ingredient, or something about the way in which its eaten? Just being devil's advocate for a moment.

Right but making good decisions doesn't mean one needs to know the science of the decision. People make bad decisions knowing exactly what they are doing and choose to do it anyways. I don't see the need to spend the time and energy trying to help these sort of people.

Usually when people make decisions, they make them based on the information they have at the time. The science is more than just informative- and is nowhere near a waste as it lays foundations you are nowhere near considering here. Think disease states when all the 'right' choices are made. And it doesn't happen under 'minority' conditions. Although this is the kind of thinking that excludes even those people: they don't 'need' help.

I totally agree with people needing to face the music of their choices. This is what providing accurate information is all about, so the choices are well made and not merely based on what could happen.

I would agree with a lot of what you have to say if we were addressing people who made the decision to live a healthier life. People who go to McDonalds are not thinking health and throwing apples in there kids meal isnt going to change that. I guess you could make the argument that it might make them think twice about what there putting in their kids mouth.

I wouldn't generalize though. I think in terms of health- and I on occasion go to the golden arches. Sometimes I even eat those Angus burgers.

I do so knowing full well that if that's what I base my diet on; I will end up in a very sad state in the not too distant future- independent of the healthy lifestyle I lead that includes frequent exercise.

Believe it or not, many people are frankly ignorant of what constitutes healthy food and healthy nutrition and how that relates to body weight independent of exercise.
