Background on the case: My husband attended his CR1 interview on 26 May 2011. He did fine no issues the CO was very friendly but for 0900 appointment he was the last person to be called up for the interview therefore his interview time was cut short and the CO's phone kept ringing and interupting the process. As soon as the clock struck 12:00 p.m. the CO told him ok give me your passport. I will read the conversations you provided and will call you back in a week, worse case scenario two weeks. He asked my husband,"is this ok?" My husand said, "sure not a problem my brother." handed my husband a 221g stating "will review the documents provided and will call you back for a second interview." Simple enough right? Nooo we never got the call, on 6 Jun I called the embassy was told the CO is still reviewing the case. My husband emailed them on 9 June 11 they promptly responded on 10 Jun 11, "CO reviewing the case."

On 4 Jul 2011, I sent the embassy an email for an update, they read it on 8 Jul 11 but no response to date.

I called DOS was informed that the case is on AP at the embassy which as I have read is really AR.

It has been 61 days since my husband's interview and we have not heard back from the embassy. Since the embassy is not replying to us via the website who in the State Department do we send the inquiry for an update?

Also is there anyone else in the same case where they kept their passport?

hello, we had ours 5/9 . the interview was great... they kept his passport and GAVE HIM THE 221 THAT SAID FURTHER PROCESSING NEEDED...said wait for the call to come get your visa and passport it will be in a week or months.. we called the consulate 2 times and they say it was still in ap... called the state department, they said they were not done with the AP TOO . THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO.....so here we are,still waiting , its been 78 days... WISH YOU LOTS OF LUCK

Thank you, well atleast I know this is a common procedure. I was just surprised because they did not call, we kept thinking did we give them the wrong number lol and I was second guessing my husband, "are you sure the CO was aware that he had your passport?" I am prior military and we don't give up our civil documents to foreign governments for nothing so I was surprised they kept the passport and did not call after 2 weeks.
