Hi all,

I'm mhy634's husband. I'm looking for a little advice and before I do so, can I apologise if something simialr has been posted already. I have probably missed it while trying to search for it.

We've done DCF at the US Embassy in London, starting the process last November. At the start of April, we received our first letter instructing us to proceed with filing the necessary paperwork which, together with a successful medical exam at the start of this month, has taken place.

My question is, does anyone have experience on how long it typically takes from the time the embassy receives our paperwork and medical results, to schedule an appointment?

I'm pretty sure that I'm being impatient (it was only three and a half weeks ago that the medical took place) but any help you can give would be great in giving us a more definitive time frame to work to.

I know one person who had their medical two and a half weeks ago and they have an interview for August 10th. So, you can expect to hear something any day. (This person phoned the Embassy just before they received their interview date and were told to expect to wait 2-4 weeks to hear. So "any day" might still be a little while, but should be soon :-) )

If the Embassy don't have your email you may have to wait longer to find out. If you're worried about missing a letter you can always phone :-)

My husband had his medical on the 17th. No word yet but we called the embassy and they confirmed they had received his paperwork.

Thanks to you both - this is good news. I had my medical on July 5th, but had to get a booster vaccine which I did two weeks ago at my own GP. I've been sent a copy of the vaccination record, so I assume the embassy has received this. My only worry was that it seemed slightly illegible where's its been ticked 'incomplete vaccination'. I assume this is because the chickenpox vaccine isn't available in the UK?

The paperwork arrived yesterday - the appointment is one week from today! Thanks to all for your input, it's much appreciated!

That's really good to hear. I had my medical last week, July 26. I had already had my vaccinations at my own doctors, so the Embassy doctors just needed my police certificate, which arrived two days later; I sent them a copy the same day. I was expecting to have to wait two or three months for an interview date, but judging by your experience, maybe it won't be all that long.
