I love cats, and I love their own mind not to follow me whenever I tell them to do so. It's just what you like better....

And apart from that.... Intelligence is not measurable, not with dogs, cats nor humans. Spent a lot of time in psychology classes only to learn that all standardized tests just show how well you are prepared. So I'd say: leave it to the pet owner or in my case cat-caretaker-slave! ;)

Cats are very trainable too, they just need the right amount of food.

LOL.

The cat peeing in the toliet can be done by putting a small pan that fits over the water at first on the toliet,

Then the cat gets used to using the higher litter box, take away the pan of litter, cat goes in toliet, and if all goes well even flushes and puts lid down.

7-3-06 GREEN CARD ARRIVES IN MAIL!!!! Done for two years!!!!!!

I am here to help, even if it's just to offer my shoulder to cry or vent on... We are all in this together.!

My answers are based on personal experience, not fact.

We are on this rollercoaster ride together holding on for dear life.

I think dogs have the ability to retain more information and thus appear to be smarter. Cats however can be trained. I have two kitties, and the female truly believes that it is her world and humans simply live in it to ensure her every need is met. She will come when you call her name but thats about it. The male however can sit, lie down, and go to his bed on command. He can also do what appears to be a mexican wave and will pretty much do it if I do the action also - bizarre. He also talks incessantly and works out how to get humans to do things for him, ie sit in front of the fire and stare at it until someones turns it on, or touch the treat pack when he wants treats. Cats are by no means stupid and can, like dogs, work out a problem over time.

We can't deny though that dogs can be trained as assistance dogs, police dogs, sniffer dogs, etc, and this takes a high level of intelligence and years of training. I doubt any cat could do that.

Still, this is one of the funniest cat videos Ive seen.....

I personally prefer cats. :luv:

They are very independent and they don't need to be given a bath all the time, they won't smell. In the other hand dogs make a house smelly. And I also think dogs are more needy. You left them alone for a weekend and they either destroy your furniture or poop your shoes. And they drool all over the place.

I also find cats smarter and dogs just obedient. ;)

To the dog:Go get that ball! And the dog runs + catches the ball + licks your face.

To the cat: Go get that ball! And the cat thinks why should I? :sleepy: And looks at you funny

It's also true that the dogs are good for training to help the police and more loyal. I cannot imagine a good police cat

this is #######! cats are much more intelligent than dogs, thats why they are more independant! they've learned!

how come here are no see and eye cats? how come there are no bomb sniffing cats?

cats are nasty as hell. they demand to chit in a box with sand in there. yuck. a dog will tell you when he has to pay his

duties. a cat will crawl in the closet and take a poo.

My vote is for the dogs, makes me think that if they are trainable and can remember things is because they're clever... They have also been known for saving lives... I just (L) dogs!!!

My dog loves rolling cats! They don't stand a chance! It's hilarious to watch! I can't see why would a cat be smarter than a dog. The only good thing about a cat is that they will chase mice. Only after they've eaten, slept for a damn week, and given you their attitude! Dogs are much more responsive toward humans. Very much like dolphins. That's why a dog is man's best friend. Cats are considered to be animals of the wild. If you run a cat over with your car, you don't have to stop to report it in California. With a dog, it's the law, you are supposed to report it. You see who has more preference on California's roads and in the eyes of the law? Cats are overpopulated. I see more dead cats on the road than anything else. That's one way of keeping the cat population down! Keep up the good driving folks! Be sure to stop next time after running over a cat, back up and do it again for good measure to be thorough!

How to clean a cat safely

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.

2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water.

3. Obtain the cat and carry it to the bathroom.

4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids.

(You may need to stand on the lid to prevent it escaping).

CAUTION:

Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as its claws will be reaching out for anything it can find.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power wash and rinse" which I have found to be quite effective.

6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure there is nothing “alive” between the toilet and the outside door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as best you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The newly cleaned cat will fire itself from the toilet, do many rapid circuits of the garden, climb trees and fences, bounce of walls and effectively spin dry itself. It will then give itself a copious licking and remove all loose hairs. It will finally pewk all the hairs in one tidy bundle for easy disposal.

Sincerely,

The DOG ;):D
