Hi everyone! I am an American's wife. He works for the US Navy. Since our relationship started, we decided that the Philippines will be our permanent home.So it means I will not be staying in the US for good. My husband's desire is for me to meet his family and loved ones in the US that is why we are trying to get the Tourist Visa. I have my interview on August 11, 2011. I intend to be in the US for 30 days only since he has only 30 days approved leave. I have proof of economic ties here in the Philippines such as apartment, purchase of house documents, credit cards statements, bank statements, car, job, and other significant related documents. Will these documents convince them or they would discredit me the fact that I am American's wife? Thank you for your help. Your opinion and knowledge are much appreciated. God bless everyone!

Hmm.. Pretty interesting topic. Do you have a kid (or kids) with your USC husband who is/are in the Philippines with you? How long have you guys been married for?

The best thing to do is to be honest with the consul during the interview and bring all proof of ties that you have in the Philippines as possible. It'll be all up to the interviewing officer wether he/she approves you of a tourist visa or not.

Good luck!!

It will certainly be harder. Being a woman from PI is difficult enough, not to mention the wife of a USC so all can do is apply and bring hefty ties to PI. Him having ties to PI might not be a bad idea either - although you must qualify on your own, to show that HE has to return as well might help

Good luck

Hi there! Thank you for your valuable opinions and knowledge. We were married last year and during my first trimester of pregnancy I lost our baby :-(. We don't have children yet. Anyway, we are just trying the tourist visa. My husband works for US Navy and is always away working overseas. We just desire to meet his family and friends in the US. Anyway, we will just put everything into God's hands. Thank you so much writers and canadian_wife. I hope all is well in your Visa journey! God bless you both :-)

Thank you Harsh_77..but the document we prepared was the Certificate of employment only. The approved leave document is not possible due to the close range of my interview date and he is not in the US now to take care of the paper.

Does employment certificate have where he is deployed? That could work too as long as you can prove he is deployed out of US and you would be staying with him wherever he is deployed.

He does not have to be in US, wherever he is deployed someone at his base should be able to give him this kinda document for you to take to interview.

Hi Harsh_77! His deployment in the current ship right now will end on September 4, 2011 and he is going back to the US for a vacation to meet me there supposedly. Then he will be reassign again to another ship after he is back from leave.

Thank you so much! Will try some other option. Take care!
