QUESTION FOR K1 SS CHANGE NAME (AOS)

Hello everyone. My fiancee arrived last month from Philippines, we married 2 weeks ago and now preparing to send the Adjustment Of Status Package... My question is, would it be fine if we go now in SS Office and try to change her last name (or add my family name) to her name? (she already have social security number) and if so what about our Adjustment Of Status Package, should we put my last name on it?

I am just confused and dont want to go through stuff over and over again just because of a change name.. Please help us. We are going tomorrow and will be reading responses before we proceed, appreciate you guys! Thanks a bunch!

You can take your marriage certificate and see if they will change her name with just that. They might say you need to wait until she has her EAD or green card in order to change the name on her SS card. If she will be taking your last name, then you need to fill out all the AOS paperwork in her new married name(your last name), as that will be the name her EAD/AP and green card will be issued in.

I think you need to wait for your GC to be able to do that, because i tried to get my name changed to my married but they said wait for my GC. And as per you AOS application, Yes she needs to use your name now and make sure not to forget about the marriage certificate for the change name..Good luck on your AOS!

i had my SSN changed to my married name after a week i got married... i just brought my marriage certificate, passport and old SSN card with maiden name... the lady took my ssn card (maiden name) after she update my name in the system... then told me to wait for the new one... a week after, there goes my new ssn in our mailbox...

you should use your married name in your AOS forms...

Now that u have the marriage certificate ur now wife can use her married name in all her legal documents.I did use my married name in all legal documents after i got our marriage cert.
