Chinese Visa

I was wondering if any of you have recently been able to get a 6 month (single entry) Chinese visa at Houston (married to Chinese of course)? The last visa I received was about a year and a half ago (one year, multi, two months per stay), but this time I need a single visa for at least 4 months. I know what they like to give changes, so any recent news on what you were able to get would be helpful. Thanks

I didn't go through houston, but I was able to get a 2 year multi entry 180 day visa in January through washington. I had to show the notarized copy of our marriage book in order to get it. I think I sent a notarized copy of her passport as well. Basically they wanted proof of her citizenship and proof of our marriage. I used Oasis China Visa in DC for this. Wow, that would be perfect since it is highly likely I would be going back to China within a year after this trip. Last time I sent in a copy of our marriage cert and her passport but they still put the 60 day stay on there. We never got the marriage book (just a standard u.s. cert), is it even possible to get it when we go back to china this time? I have always wanted to have an official document in Chinese that they are familiar with since you can always run into trouble in small towns with hotels (although that is getting better with each passing year).

Did you get married in China or in the US? I'm guessing the US so chances are probably not. It is kind of cool as we both got our own little red marriage book. Never did figure out what the extra pages are for though

Check out the site I listed and give them a call. They are very knowledgeable and can tell you right away what you will need. They were the ones who told me I could get a 2 year visa. Even before we were married I was able to get a one year multi entry 30 day stay visa without any problems.

Yeah we got married in the u.s., I contacted them and they said most likely I could get the 2 year visa, but it all depends on how the consulate is feeling that particular day and hour... I could end up with anything from the full 2 year visa to a 6 month visa.... we all know what the communist government is like I saw on another post you were in chengdu, are you still there or back in the u.s.?

Back in the US. I was in Chengdu after our second honeymoon in thailand in february. Just met in Guangzhou for her interview beginning of June so now she gets to make the 20+ hour trip this time

I received a 1 year multiple entry, will need a new one this year.

I'll be curious to see if I can get another 2 year visa after she has moved here and is no longer a resident of China. Anyone have experience with that yet?

We are waiting for that one, GC pending Phoenix behind in processing. My wife still has property in China. Probably go back after the first of the year. Congratulations on your GC.

Thanks. just 14 more days till she arrives. Yeah we're planning on going back every other year at this point with her family either coming here or meeting somewhere in the odd years.
