Hey everyone,

I just have some concerns about using an Advance Parole. We are Naturalized Canadian Citizens living in the U.S since 02. My dad applied for AOS on OCT.2007, just before I turned 21.

We have been waiting for our GC for so long and I would really love to visit my family and friends in Canada.. I just received my AP and I am very afraid to use it, we have not left the U.S

since we applied for AOS! My little brother used it, traveling to Canada for a school trip and he had no problems but then again he is a minor I am already an adult and I'm scared that they

won't let me come back in and I won't be able to stay with family.

What kind of questions to they ask? What documents do I need to bring with me? Do I show them a school I.D?

Sorry, this is the first time in my life I had to worry about these things that could change my life if I make one mistake. I'm scared they won't let me back in.

Just for the record, my dad came to the U.S as a TN and my mom, bro and I came as a TD.

No overstay at all.

Thank You in advance!

If you have no overstay and approved AP then there is nothing to worry about. What is the holdup with the GC though?

The OP mentions that the family came to the US on a TN and to adjust from a TN to a Green Card through an employer does take years, at the very least 3, I know some who have been waiting for 5 years, going on 6. They AOS'd in 2007 so they're actually not doing back on time for their situation.

Thank you very much for the reply! I just want to feel at ease with using the AP.

Do you know what kind of questions they ask? and what documents do I need to bring?

Actually, the green card is an employment based green card. My dad came on a TN then I think he applied for AOS, it is taking a long time because he is under eb-3 philippines category even though he is a Canadian Citizen

they are putting us under eb-3 Philippines since that is the country he was born..If i'm not mistaken.

The wait is actually killing us! My dad has been wanting to visit his mum in Philippines but is also worried about using his AP. Our 485 is still under initial review it has not moved since 07!! =((((

I'm sorry it's taking so long! It's unfortunately always like that for work based Green Card applications, unless you have a highly sought after and rare Ph.D degree or something...but hang in there, they will get to yours and you will be pretty much set for life
