well i just got back to work.

it was at 7:30am and got there at 7:45. was called in around 8:30. interview took around 10 minutes. it was an asian guy (with accent). he didn't ask me any questions. he asked couple questions to my wife and that basically was it. he was really nice, smiley and all. he said he would've approve me if I didn't have my problem back in 2006 (i lost my status once, was called in to an immigration office to give statement) so he said he'll review the case and I should get a response soon.

i really think i am approved coz it was so simple.

Uh oh, Jim! Never..I have always been one and the same person using the same name..all my documents : birth certificate, marriage certificate here, all 4 passports, even my name in my children's birth certificates and certificate of no marriage from the Philippines (even school transcripts since grade school thru Grad School are all in one and the same name). I even clarified with her that since my name would not fit in the I-130 form, I had to drop my second first name. I have 2 first names which is shown in all my records prior to getting here in the US. When we applied for the AOS, EAD and I-130, I had to drop one of the first names so I told her that and she admitted that their forms cant accommodate all the characters...my EAD and SSN cards and state ID then both have only one first name and my maiden last name but the passports, birth certificate, certificate of no moraaiage, school dox all have 2 firs names. I even told her how I got the 2 first names...one from each of my parent and why I chose the first first name than the second first name to be used here in the US. I honestly feel bad I had to drop my second first name. Also, I wanted to be consistent with the IDs I have here in the US so I opted to use one first name only.

Now that would be really interesting...and IF this is the case, they can't deny my AOS...as I am 100% honest in telling them this, just like in the other points raised. Thanks for the heads up!..I was a bit shaken cuz it never occured to me BUT that's something I can be ready for.

Thanks much Jim! :)

Why so many passports? That might sound fishy.

Did you at least get an i-551 stamp in your passport?

more detailed information

It was at 7:30am and we got there at 7:45am. We were called in around 8:30. Interview took around 10 minutes. It was with an asian guy (with accent). He didn't ask me any questions. He asked couple questions to my wife and that basically was it. I still remember the questions he asked my wife.

1. how did you two meet?

2. he finished school?

3. seen his family members?

4. has he seen your family?

and that's it.

He then asked me those classical questions on the 485 form, to see if I am a terrorist. He was really nice, he smiled often made jokes. He said he would've approve me right there if I didn't have my F1 status problem back in 2006 (a little background info for you guys... I lost my status once, was called in to federal plaza to give statement) so he said therefore he'll have to review the case and I should get a response soon.

It was a pleasant experience, I should receive the card production soon. I am sure.

at the end He wrote something on my passport with a pen lol that was funny. it reads 7/27/2011 I485 pending section 245 cr6 lol this is funny as anybody can write this.

Passports are only valid for 5 years in the Philippines. I am already on my 5th passport and I am only 24. :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Mystickal, Messybrownhair answered it..my passports expired after 5 years and back home it has to be at least 6 mos valid before we can travel abroad so I made sure that they're all valid for at least a year for convenience..am on my 4th passport, 4th time in the US. :) All of the passports carry the same name (2 first names and same last name and middle initial)...my second passport was renewed in 2001 in LA before my son was born in Aug 2001...that was prior to Sept 11..could it be one of the IO's reasons? Paranoia, I know..hehhehe!

Messy, thanks for the encouragement..magdilang anghel ka! :)

vkn/jsb, pls keep us updated of your status.Good luck to us.

They let you keep all expired passports? I'm on my "2nd" one but had to give the old one back...

Yup.. they just punch a hole in it to mark it invalid, but they let you keep it because sometimes visas are in the old passport so you still need it. For example, US tourist visas are valid for 10 years so naturally you have to travel with two passports (the new one and the old one with the visa)

Exactly my case with my passports...my 10 yr visa is on my first passport so I travel with all 4 passports when I travel. I got 3 passports with holes. :)

This is a waiting game...:)

Thanks!

Its the same for Canada :star: They cut off a corner piece of it to indicate it's no longer valid but you get to keep it if you wish. I know I've always wanted to keep mine because they are a souvenir to me, all my travel stamps etc. Canadians passports are also good for 5 years and I'm also on my fifth passport

I was quite surprised when I found out how long US passports are valid for. Wow! An american friend of mine (when were were teens) had a passport with a picture of himself as a child and he was now 16! I remember laughing and thinking it almost doesnt look like the same person!
