what about your k1 visa? you were denied? because i saw youre timeline but i think you had your interview on 04/04......so what was happened?

:help:

They gave us the 221g stating that it was being sent back to CIS for further review. My Congressman claims our review will take forever. Vermont is so backlogged from what I hear.

I doubt getting married would help. From what I've seen K-1 takes lot less time. Getting married would drain you (Moroccan beauracracy is unbelivable!) - takes a lot of money and leg work. The whole process takes 3 weeks, I tried for 2.5 - didn't work!

And now thinking back, I regret listening to my husband who told me that a marriage anywhere else is not recognized in Morocco and that we'd have to get re-married later on if we'd go for fiance visa. I'm kicking myself every day for actually getting married. It's been 14 months since I've filed and 16 months since we got married and there's no interview or any good news in sight. So, unless I'm terribly wrong, you shouldn't do that! The security checks in Vermont took 6 months and now nobody knows where's the paperwork and what's going on.

Good luck anyway whatever you decide!

Tanya

Met online - May 2004

Met in person - August 2004

Got married - May 2005

Filed I-130 - July 2005

Filed I-129 - August 2005

Interview - February 2006 - 221(g) - still under investigation.

Another useless interview - July 2006 - got nowhere!

August 23, 2007 - he's finally here!

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Greece
Timeline

We were thinking of leaving the K1 and doing the K3. But then we got an additional 3 month extension on our K1 and decided to keep going with it. Plus, I looked into what is needed to get married in Greece and it is just as burdeonsome as doing a Visa process. I need certified copy of divorce decree, certified copy of my birth certificate, then I have to have them translated into Greek. Then I have to go the Athens Embassy and swear under oath that I am free and able to marry and then get their sworn affadavit in Greek and English. All of this before we even apply for the marriage license. And last but not least we have to have our announcement of marriage put into the Greek newspaper and have it all in Greek characters. Auuuuuggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we are sticking with the K1 and praying that we get everything done soon and get approved.

Good luck with what you decide to do.

Sorry to hear that Tanya, seems like Vermont is short staffed. Perhaps our paper work went to the rectangular files.

I would be careful. The reason the Consulate had for your K-1 to be sent back could case the K-3 to go back too. (Seen it happen to others with K-3's and IR/CR-1's in Morocco.) I think I would wait out the review and see what comes.
