Hey everyone!

We are about to begin the process, I need to get some things straight in my head first. Perhaps you can help me with this!

So, we have everything gathered, signed and dated where applicable, highlighted dates on additional info (flight iteneraries, emails, skype logs).

Now, am I right in saying we should now copy our entire package TWICE?

Then, I, the foreign fiance, should keep this safe and take it with me to my interview in a few months? Correct?

Thanks!

It is a smart way to have the copy of the original petition with the beneficiary, so that during the interview the fiancé(e) could take it with them to the embassy and also can study the information to be familiar. However you don't have to send all the evidences to the USCIS. What you need is only the one that can show you and your fiancé(e) met in less than two years. The rest will be taken to the embassy during the interview.

Good Luck

Then, I, the foreign fiance, should keep this safe and take it with me to my interview in a few months? Correct?

Yup...the petitioner should have a copy of everything, the beneficiary should have a copy of everything, and the USCIS will have a copy of everything.

The USCIS's copy will include the original I-129F, the original G-325s, and the original letters of intent to marry. It's been a while, so I hope I didn't forget anything.

The beneficiary's copy will include original receipts because the consular officer can ask for them at the interview.

The I-134, which is sent to the beneficiary just before the interview, will be an original, as will the updated letter of intent to marry.

For those who are going through the U.S. Embassy Manila, it can be helpful for the beneficiary to take the entire I-129 packet to their required CFO seminar because you never know what they will ask for. This is important because if you don't get a CFO sticker in your passport, you will not be allowed to board your flight to the U.S.

After Chinook's interview, the U.S. Embassy Manila lost my I-134 and its accompanying financial documents. Fortunately, Chinook had copies of everything, so we were OK. She simply submitted the needed documents...after she made copies of them!

Never give out your last copy of anything. Always have a spare.

; Copy the entire I-129f package, because -sometimes- a Service Center lose a case.

You should also copy everything from your "between NOA2 and Interview" since you need it for your interview. When you don't have a copy, they can keep your originals.

Good luck on the rest of your journey

If she has previous marriages please ensure you have NBI clearances under that name as well. This is why we are in review after the interview.

- The other posters are correct you should have a copy of everything you send including the delivery and shipping documents of the packet, and fee check. I sent her one, I had 2 and the USCIS gets one of course.

- We kept the Skype logs, yahoo chat logs, Wells Fargo transfer sheets, boarding passing and itineraries, phone bills, and any thing else we did even the care packages I shipped over we had the shipping receipts on those.

- Your packet may set at USCIS for the 5-6 months without a lot of attention. This is normal but you can track it online once you have the receipt notice from the submittal.

Good luck, Talk often, write even more, and stay strong it can be a trying journey.

you don't have to send all the evidences to the USCIS. What you need is only the one that can show you and your fiancé(e) met in less than two years. The rest will be taken to the embassy during the interview.
This advice is technically correct, but it can lead to potential disaster if the beneficiary will later be dealing with certain "problem" consulates (in Ecuador, for one of several). In brief, the consulates are not to ignore "evidence of bona fide relationship" that USCIS has seen (and has passed to the consulate). Don't risk the consulate's refusing to accept evidence that's brought to the interview. This has happened. Accordingly, "front-loading" the petition may be prudent.

In order to offer the most meaningful advice, we need to know which consulate the OP will be dealing with.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi TBone...It's always an honor to be in the same thread as you and, as usual, you make an excellent point.

I would advise K-1 petitioners who will have their petitions going through the U.S. Embassy Manila to front-load their I-129F petition. This means that the petitioner should include evidence of a bona fide relationship in the petition that is sent to the USCIS.

Reallly? For Manila? I have never heard of this being an issue for Manila. Maybe things have changed. Its funny, I attended my then fiancee's interview and they did not ask for or look at any of our evidence of an ongoing relationship. I guess we just looked like we were made for each other. :D

You guys must be golden! :star:

Both the Filipino pre-screener and the consular officer looked at our evidence of an ongoing relationship. There was another poster in this thread that said the pre-screener looked at their evidence of an ongoing relationship. Also, I've read this many times before here on VJ that they looked at this type of evidence.

It's also very likely that the consular officer already looked at the evidence before the interview. I have a feeling it's one reason why most interviews go so quickly in Manila.
