Hi, my wife filed for me (I-130) in early July 2011.

She just realized that the cover letter she included, she accidently mentioned a wrong date for our first metting. We met in Aug 2010 but she wrote it as Aug 2011. Is this gonna be a issue ? we are both worried .. please advise us what should we do ?

First of all....you are trying bogging our head by asking totally wrong question....there is no such question on I-130. I will urge you to stop everything what you are doing and tell us where is that question in I-130........

no the mistake is not on I-130 form but its on the cover letter included in the I-130 package. My wife wrote a cover letter (included with I-130 package) and she made a mistake by mentioning wrong date of our first meeting.

Do you get what i am trying to say ?

As long as there is no mistake on official paperwork I dont think you should be worried. Cover letter is not required by USCIS, its optional thing people opt to do.

As August 2011 hasn't happened yet, it is an obvious mistake, so not that big of an issue. I agree call to correct, but if they say they cannot, just correct it next time you send in papers or at the interview.

Immigration race, cover letter is a part of the I-130 and the information provided is very critical.

Aschenbecher, this is very imprtant piece of information as far as USCIS is concern but they will understand that it is typo - since this is critical information, call USCIS and get it corrected and everything should be fine.

No it's not actually.

It's actually not even a requirement. It depends on the reviewing officer if he will look at it or not. They really care about the actual I-130 itself and the bonafide evidence that goes with it.

There were different views expressed by others. There is a possibility that no one may notice it too.

In 2003, we actually gave our date of birth in the parent's affidavit wrong (DD/MM/YYY was mistyped as MM/MM/YYY) but nothing happened and we got our Green cards then. Of course we did not notice the mistake during the process. Also you can always explain that it was a type, if ever this was found, and it can be explained/ prooved by the fact that it was a date in the future at the time of filing the petition. So I guess you just ignore it, as suggested by others.
