Yeah -- people seem to have forgotten how to disagree agreeably.

Well its hardly surprising given the antics of Fox News, CNN and others. If someone disagrees with you "turn off their mic!" There's no such thing as political debate in this country, just people shouting at each other. Every time I turn on news program and there's more than one person talking on the screen I get a headache.

People lap up these opinionated arseholes, so its hardly suprising they start to act like them.

i got it from one of the handymen at the university i went to in PA. said i should go back home because i am taking the spot from a hard-working American.

and i've been to a few other countries where i've been ignored, avoided and had people say rude things.

but i chalk it up to individual ignorance and a$$holishness (heh heh i made a new word).

Mrs. P that is great advice about logging the situation. Because it happened at work, I was a little concerned that maybe I crossed a boundary and could get fired. I don't really know this person since I have only worked there 3 weeks but she could easily go to my boss and say I was saying all this bullshit that isn't true. We do work together everyday.

Uling, my husband is black (born in Jamaica) and we have gotten a few comments for being interracial but they kinda rolled off my back. For some reason, I just couldn't let this one roll. I do empathize with minorities however and don't really understand how people have such an issue with colour. I guess because I'm white I haven't really had the feeling like I wasn't welcome in America.

Well, you knew you were getting into an interracial relationship (presumably ) so it makes sense you'd be prepared for comments on that. But if your experience with integrating into US society has thus far been positive, this would naturally throw you.

I think tomorrow you will still wake up, eat breakfast, breathe, love your significant other, wash your body, breathe...eat...in other words, what she says has and shouldn't have any impact to your life and existance. The Dept of Homeland Security trumps her anyway, they are OK with you being here and for the record, I am glad you are here too.

Pity her. She is probably being victimized at home in some way because all her energy is wrappped up in the political affairs of the world instead of bettering herself or having human respect for the rights and opinions of others.

She might have even been suffering from really bad gas & you caught her at a bad time.
