Compare and contrast our revolutionary war to what's happened for years and years in N. Ireland. If the people there would've kicked the King's troops completely out and won their independence (completely) they would've been heroes. Instead, they're terrorists.

Look at modern-day Iraq. Palestine too. Those who are doing their best to blow up the occupying army's assets aren't labeled as "freedom fighters" or fighting " in resistance to oppressive tyranny" but, moreover, they're labeled as insurgents or terrorists.

The "winners" get to set the labels. I refer to our founders as terrorists becuase at the time of their fight.... they were!

Slim, that isn't profound. Everyone with a high school education knows that history is defined by the victor. That's fine in so far as it goes. However, the differences between al qaeda and the colonial revolutionaries are deeper than a mere turn of phrase. Don't be silly.

Please, highlight the differences for me.

While you're at it, explain to me why we call Iraqis, Afghans and Palestinians who defend their homeland against occupying forces "terrorists" or "insurgents." Why don't we call them "freedom fighters" or at the very minimum, "rebels?"
