My husband was issued his visa on March 2, 2011 and when he received it on June 13, 2011 it was expired...i called and asked the lawyer about it and he said that the officer assigned to the case can issue a visa for however long they want...is this true?? Because it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Is the the complete answer that your attorney gave to you? I hope not. Contact the consulate and get a new visa with an expiration date that allows him to enter the US.

That is what the lawyer's secretary told me that he said and that my husband had to go back to Ciudad Juarez and go to the information window and ask what he needed to do. Right now he lives over 24 hours away from Ciudad Juarez...so he had to save up enough money to get there and when he was there he had to have his 3rd medical exam and they said that he would have his visa within the week and then our lawyer called and told us that they had to send in more papers and that my husband had to make another appointment.

wow - sounds like a complete new 'packet' since the visa expired.

what visa was it, exactly ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I'm not sure what kind of visa it was because my lawyer won't explain things to me...they tell me that they have already talked to my husband and he knows what he has to do and what everything means. So i barely know what is going on

You dont know what kinda visa is your husband applying for?

Your lawyers is not very good, if you are applying for CR1 visa, it normally has 6 month validity.

March to June is only 2 months so this does not make any sense to me.

He said that it depends on the officer assigned to the case...they can decide on how long they issue a visa for...i have asked my lawyer many many times why it was only issued for 2 months and he keeps telling me the same answer...i think it is a CR1 visa. But i could be wrong...i have looked in my paperwork and it just says CR1.

Who hired the lawyer, you or your husband. If you hired him, then the lawyer should be communicating with you. Maybe your husband and the lawyer have had a discussion about whom to communicate information to.

We went together to the lawyer...we both decided on him...but he is the one that hired him because he was the one working and paying him.
