My fiancee and I are waiting patiently for our paperwork to be approved but we both are both getting frustrated with having to communicate over the internet. We get fuzzy video, lost audio, dropped connections, IM crashing, computers rebooting, and so on. We primarily use Yahoo messenger or Skype to communicate with audio and video but both of those seem to longer work properly, so its becoming very difficult to talk without any problems. We would like the VisaJourney community to give us some ideas or alternatives that we can use to communicate without any technological problems. We thank you in advance for your ideas

It's not clear to me if you are using internet cafes or using a home conection. If she has a computer you can pay for highspeed internet that would probably solve the problem.

Smart and Globe are internet providers there. If you are willing to pay you can have a good connection. If you are using cafes it can sometimes help going to a different cafe.

I recommend Chikka for sending free text msg. to her phone.

I share your frustration. I took a laptop to Judy when I went to see her. She was sharing a smart bro connection with a neighbor and that was working pretty good. It was costing

us $10 a month. splitting the cost with the neighbor. Then the neighbor lost his job , and quit paying the bill and after two months of that it got cut off.(meanwhile he was taking the

$10 from Judy. they have something monkey rigged now that is only good enough to annoy the ####### outta me. But Judy has her interview on August 17 so it's not worth making

a major investment at this point.

I use chikka to tell her it is time to log on, It usually goes right through and she can reply if she has a load on her phone. Occaisionally it can take 10 minutes for her to get the

chikka message.

Which brings up Chikka wallet. It allows you to put a load

on her phone using paypal.

If she is using a home computer, you could pay for Highspeed which I think requires a one year contract. Assuming she is living with her parents you could keep that setup there

so she could talk to them once she is over here.

upgrade both computers to windows xp service pack 2.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You need a stable computer with a stable internet connection on both ends. There is no other solution if you want to continue to communicate this way.

Consider yourself lucky. Try dealing with a country where the electricity per day is measure in minutes and you never know what time those precious moments could be. Leaving a computer was no help. We relied on small phone calls every day.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I feel the pain of being held at the mercy of the virtual word. me and my fiancee had been relying most over 3 years now to what technology can give. It is cheaper to just have an internet at home if you really talk like 24/7. Actually it may sound weird but we are online even when we sleep :) And when he is at work, we communicate through email. It is much wiser to get a hig speed connection than experience the pain of slow connectivity. I myself availed the 3mbps but typical thing with the internet here, you really dont get the actual speed stated in the plan but atleast I get more than 2 mbps..good one for voice calls.
