hi my wife did her interview and passed, all is needed now is a PCC, which we had but was not the right one. So when she went to get one they asked if she was married, her lawyer said if she was married she would have to get a new passport, now that would mess everything up since she has her visa waiting all is needed is the passport clearance, so She said she was not, so i would like to know from VJ experianced members what a PCC looks like, will it have any information written on it that says she is unmarried cause that would mess everything up. This is the only thing she needs to submit to VFS before she gets her visa, she has given in her passport to the passport office too, so it would really help if someone knows how long its takes for this process also. Thanks.

BTW US immigration has no problem with my wife using her old surname on the application, casue it is her old passport, when i asked NVC a while back they said it didnt matter cause we have a marraige certificate that says were married so as long as it doesn't say anything about marital status on the PCC then it will not even matter.

My fiance's did not state anything about his marital status. I don't know if that applies to both men and women. Each passport office's PCC is different as India has yet to standardize things. Additionally, each passport office takes a different amount of time. I think New Delhi takes one day, I've heard of a few others taking one week. Guwahati took two months.

Please reply back with your passport office so people who have been through that office can give you more specific information.

Congratulations and good luck!

We didn't want the name headaches and hence filed with her maiden name the I-130. Then she took Police Clearance from Local Police and went to Vizag Passport Office and just request Police Clearance from them to immigration to US. That is it and there is no mention of any marraige in the request form and they gave their clearance in the same day.
