I have green card and if i pass the exam i can become citizen in about 18 months.

My wife do not have green card however she is legally here on student visa .

Should i fill the papers now for her (me under green card ) or should i wait until i am citizen and then fill out paper work .

Which way will be faster to get her a green card ?

If i fill the papers now with me under green card and i become citizen - will this speed up whole process for my wife ?

Please advise .

thanks

You can file now and update your file when you become a citizen.

Correct. At best, you might cut down her process by a few months, at worst it would take the same time as if you were to file in 18 months. Make sure you read the relevant steps on how to 'upgrade' your case.

Assuming the 18 months is the time until you are sworn in. If 18 months is the time until your citizenship filing, then the length of time you could cut her process is even more.
