Hi everbody ....

Just received the blue paper RFE, they want evidence for "RESIDENCE". We are renting from the cousin of my wife, and we never had an agreement just simple rent receipt which i sent with my package but maybe was not enough. We have either to re write a new rent agreement or ask the cousin to write a statement. i think a statement is better because it`s simply the truth , we never have had an agreement because we are a family.

did any of you do that and was enough?. Any suggestion?.am intending to send it back Monday.the RFE was so specific, they ask just for Residence eveidence(rent agrrement, lease, deeds, utiliy bills).

Thank you.

You can just download a template online and have it filled by your family member. There's no need to mention on the actual lease that it's rented out by a family member, just write the name of the owner and the names of the renters. Here's an example you could use My link

Another proof of joint residence is letter or bills in both of your names received at your home. If you dont have joint bills, you can add mail received in both of your name, separately but at the same address. For instance, ther internet is in my husband's name but the cable is in my name. Those two bills show we get mail at the same address.

Bon courage !

Thank you for the link:, we dont have any utility everything is included with the rent, but we have some bank checks with both our names and we pay the bills sometimes with checks.

Thanks again

Another question, do we have to date this basic agreement back in 2009, or we can just signe it with the actual date ? can we still add a statement of the cousin to this agreement since he is the owner?.Thanks.

I had a similar issue during our AOS and for our ROC as well. When I moved to the US, my wife was living at our current residence since the last 8 years without the rent agreement since the Landlord was known to them. We did have seperate utilities though. Anyways, I had the Owner write a simple letter stating we were his tenants and that was enough for us then. I had the Landlord write a similar simple letter for our ROC. So far its too early to know whether they'll RFE that but thats what I did. At times they send you an RFE without realizing that you already sent them the required documents. If you are sending out another rental agreement, have the current date since back dating might be considered fraud as you guys never had any formal agreement.

Good Luck!

How about driver's licenses or government issued ID's with the same address listed?
