whilst reading as much as info on the affivdavid of support..there are still afew questions i seek...i will explain alittle...............my fiance 18mths ago had his own bussiness..obviously this would be classed as an asset his own home etc etc....his company got sued....leaving him having to sell his home and his ample wage now dropping to $21,000...now he currently doesnt own his own home and is back living with his parents so that he can save once again..so when i move over we can go and buy a house together. Now what i was wondering, after looking at the poverty guidelines for 3 people myself ,my daughter and my fiance in the household...following the guidline which states for 3 people is $20,750.........so we just scrape through?? or is the guide the absolute minium you can earn?..or do they actually like you to earn above this...and is this before or after tax?...also the only asset i guess he has would be his car until we move in together..is this going to be aproblem?.....i,m also guessing the answer would be no....but would they not take into account any savings i have myself..or any income i would immediatley be bringing in myself once over there? i really cant seem too find much on this, any help appreciated thankyou

I'm still not sure if this is after or before tax, but it's the minimum required, which supposedly means that if you're above, you're, no matter how much or little above you are.

In my case we too are barely above and I am counting on them taking in consideration that we meet the requirements even if barely.

OP: Are you sure London asks for 125%? I-134 asks for 100% above the poverty guidelines and only some consulates/embassies ask for 125%.

I'm still not sure if this is after or before tax, but it's the minimum required, which supposedly means that if you're above, you're, no matter how much or little above you are.

In my case we too are barely above and I am counting on them taking in consideration that we meet the requirements even if barely.

It's 125% before taxes. This should give you some leadway.

awwwwwwww..thanks for your repley ..and goodluck too you..both....do you or he have any assets as i have read this can help...i also may look into self sponsor ..as i,m sure iread you could do this somehwhere if you..had acertain amount of savings!!?...lol..which i havnt !.but given the time it takes to go through the process..i can maybe save enough!!.....anyway heres hoping we both get by on what we have!.thanks aga in.x

Unless you look into self-sponsoring (you can do some research on the topic, since I've read that London does accept it), the person who's supposed to fill out I-134 is the USC. You're supposed to use the poverty guidelines - check whether London goes by 100% or 125%. I-134 is the form you'll need to show the consular office to prove that your fiance (and a co-sponsor, if needed) will be able to support you in the U.S.

The I-134 when used is only to assist a conof in determining if the applicant will or wont become a public charge, hence why when you research you will find there is often more required in supporting documents then is also instructed on the I-134. So to answer your question.......yes London deals with the affidavit. However a sponsors income is in US dollars as per the poverty guidelines.

To my knowledge the UK consulate uses the 100% not 125%. The 125% will be used when the I-864 is filed when you adjust status in the US.

It's "Affidavit", it's not "yours", but your USC's, the amount IS in US dollars per year (poverty guideline) and "London" = US Consulate in London England.

With the final ruling, relatives living in the same household only have to be counted as household members if there is financial interdependence (as demonstrated by tax return) or if they are going to contribute support to the sponsored alien (by entering into an I-864A with the sponsor).

no he won,t still be living at home at that time.. i will also be recieving $1000 amonth towards the care of my daughter which will also be added to the pot......and i myself have substancial savings from selling my property here in the uk..and then obviously when able to work..i,m qualified in interior design..i shalll go back to work and do so........so to be honest, i,m thinking we will manage fine..........thanks for your input
