Hi there my husband had his interview this week and it went well. However because of his age and sex (young adult male) from Pakistan he was put in AP. The interviewing officer said it was standard. They took his passport and told him that they would mail it back to him with the visa as long as they could verify his information. I am not too worried about this since our case is honest and accurate and we got married for the right reasons. I am just wondering if anyone has been put in AP from Pakistan and how long it took for them to complete the process? The interviewing officer said 1-3 months. However I have come to ignore timelines since governement agencies never seem to stick to them. Also, is there anything that I can do on my end to speed up the process?

Thanks!

We are in the very same circumstance.... they kept his passport as well.. they needed one document from us and that was it... we were also told it was mandatory ap and when we called dos the other day they said it was for standard review. The CO told my husband a minumum of 45 working days.

I wish you the best of luck... AP is a depressing thing to go thru as there is nothing we can do to speed it up and nothing we can do to get real information as they wont say anything but pending....

May I ask how you called? I tried to call the embassy but I couldn't get through

We tried calling so many times but couldnt get thru but this past monday the embassy called me personally to do a phone interview with me to be sure our relationship is valid and genuine.. which it is but the co had said there has been fraud with men from paki and this is a way for them to conduct their reviews before doing namechecks..once passed the interview/and review THEN they go into namechecks...

so we never called or contacted them they had called me in the states for a phone interview.

LOL they called me about 10am in the morning... I had just opened the bank and Im the only teller there sooo... lol i had to keep asking the poor CO to hold while I did transactions and answered the phones.... he had a good sense of humor thank GOD and was laughing at me cos i would go from customer back to CO and back again always saying oh im sooo sorry ;) it will all be ok they are just verifying your case that's it!! no worries... :) we got the green light saying he had no concerns about us and didnt need him for anther interview no more docs requested either and he only has one last check which is name checks. Im sure it will be teh same with you.... good luck!

This AP is variable for each individual case. Therefore, we can't generalize it. There are cases which are cleared in weeks but there are case which remained undecided since months.

Pray for early finalization and always hope for better outcome.

This thread is what made me come out of lurking, create profile and post my experience with you guys. My husband's case has been in AP for a year and 5 months- I just can't come to terms with that # anymore lol. How long did it take for you fellow posters to clear AP?
