You mean from the Philippines? I believe you have to pass an exam here to work as a nurse, but I'm sure there are places that will someone without experience.

Of course, I have to pass the NCLEX-RN to get an RN license in the US and to be able to work there as a nurse. What I mean is, any good job in the medical area other than RN..

I'm not sure how it is in other parts of the country, but here where I live there is a growing demand for health care workers. It is difficult though for new graduates to get hired, but it does happen. If you have your Bachelors in Nursing, once you are certified in a state, I think you should be able to find work, but it might take some careful planning, persistence and being at the right place at the right time. :)

After talking with my wife about this (trying to get your high school transcripts evaluated) she said it would be a lot easier to just take the equivalency test (GED).

If she completed one or more years of higher education (bachelor's degree,etc..), no need to have her secondary education transcripts (HS) evaluated. Just the transcripts in the higher education she attended.

WES = World Education Service, if I remember right. My wife had to have her transcripts evaluated through WES specifically, to get her teachers license here.

Ah, ok. Yeah, for someone with a college degree, it would make sense, but IMO, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble just for a high school diploma.

When I got admitted in college here in the U.S for nursing school, I used SPANTRAN EDUCATION SERVICES. I have searched, goggled all the accredited institution that evaluates transcripts for foreign students and Spantran knocked almost everyone of them. For the following reasons:

- they have the cheapest rate.

-they do accept photocopies of your transcript, scanned it and send it to the email address they will give you.

-it doesn't need to come from the original school

- BUT, they will have/need a confirmation from the school you are claiming for that you graduate that you were indeed a student there. This confirmation is done through email or snail mail. So be prepared and asked the Dean or principal's email address and make them aware that they will be receiving a very important notice from Spantran. If its done by email, its a lot quicker.

-total turn around time for me was 3 weeks.

-paid $115 including shipping to the school that you intend to enroll in the US which was with Fedex.

NOTE:

Most of the schools here in the US will not accept the transcipt even it was evaluated by one of the education services if its coming from YOU. Have the education services deliver the transcript directly to the school you intend to enroll.

This statements are all based from personal experiences.
