Though I'm not registered yet, but our I-129F petition was approved in 67 days from NOA1!

You need to have strong evidences of a bonafide relationship and ofcourse the basic requirement is you two have met within the last 2 years before ur petition was filed and evidences that you two are legally free to marry, etc.. :)

But you know what, when I had my tourist visa interview at the consulate before (2010), they asked me a lot of questions about my educational level (which I think is one of the reasons of the denial).. And since my boyfriend(who is now my fiance, the petitioner for my K1) is the one inviting me to come to the US plus because I was not able to provide STRONG evidences that I will return the PI after the visit, they refused me for the tourist visa.. :(

Now, we're on K1 route like you not for immigration but for building a life together. (L) And everything seems fine so far.. Hopefully my medical and interview will be doin' okay too.. :star:

I also applied for a tourist visa like 4 years ago and got denied because they found out that I'm in a nursing school. They are really on the lookout for nurses applying for tourist visa. But I guess since yours got approved, there's no need to worry about it.. thanks for your reply! :) oh btw When did u graduate?

Being a nurse has nothing to do with anything. Being a "STUDENT" (who is not working or have a good income) is a red flag for a tourist visa, not being a nurse. For a tourist visa one needs to show that they have strong/good reason to return to their country (being a student in anything is not a good reasomn). For a K-1 visa, one needs to show that they have strong ties to their fiance/e.

Good Luck

I get your point lovepath :) its just that there is this huge number of unemployed nurses here in the phils, wanting to go abroad to work and some people is just using this K1 way. I just got a bit worried about it, but your right, all we have to do is show that our relationship is real and strong. He visits me here every 3 months, he's been here like 5 times already. I think its enough.. thanks again ;)

I am a newly graduated nurse I didn't have any problems with my visa. I got approved last July 19, 2011. The consul asked me if I have plans to work in the US and I answered, "Yes, in the future"

They wouldn't see it as a red flag as long as your engagement is real and you have strong evidences of a bonafide relationship and they will be glad to have you in the US because you're not going to be a public charge.

thanks for your input paul_kay. that is such a relief that they don't question nursing grads.. yea they should be happy that we're not going to be a public charge :)

Not to worry...

Chinook was an RN in 'Pinas when she had her K-1 interview.

The consular officer noticed that she was a nurse and asked her if she was planning to work in the U.S. She said "yes."

We have been happily married for over two years already, and Chinook is working as an RN here in Seattle.

Good luck! :star:

The fact that you are a nurse may help you at your interview if your beneficiary's income is close to the minimum.

When making their decision, the consular officers take into account the totality of the circumstances. The consular officer can take into consideration your employability and earning potential in the U.S. Being a nurse would be helpful in that regard.
