Traveling on a conditional g.c. is perfectly fine and you will have no issues, so long as it is still valid. The only problem you may face would be if they called you for biometrics in the ROC process and you were in Australia. Obviously if you are planning on coming back after the card expiration, and you haven't done anything to remove conditions, and you have not received the NOA which prolongs the validity of the card by one year, then yes, you will have a problem.

You don't have a conditional Green Card. You have a Green Card.

Whether it's a 2-year card or a 10-year card or an unlimited card, it's a Green Card and you have the same rights and obligations as a resident who has lived in the US for 90 years or longer.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Maybe. The problem may be with the airline, not Customs and Immigration.

Australia is *not* subject to the six-month rule, so chances are you wouldn't have to worry about it going *to* Australia. (Foreign nations usually apply the same rules to people from the U.S. as we apply to their citizens.) But the airline may not know that, and may insist that you have to have at least six months' left on your green card before you can travel. You can try to explain it to them (and wave a printed copy of the bulletin in their faces) but it's still their discretion.

What if something happens and you get stuck in Australia? Do you want to be outside of the U.S. when your green card expires?

I don't know how soon you can do a renewal, but I'd start thinking about it.

Care,

Bill

If your GC expires July 2012 you will have to start ROC in May as you need to do this in the 90 day window of your GC expiring. How long are you going back home for? Leaving in March? as long as you are back in USA by end April early may you should be fine. Does your GC expire end of July or beginning?

Sorry Bob also is wrong we are given a Gc with conditions as n it only lasts for 2 years and we have to take the conditions off as in ROC 90 days before GC expires.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month
