Depends somewhat on the reason (for example as military active-duty expedites are always approved, it tends to go quick, whereas an expedite for health reason will receive more scrutiny), but you should hear within 10 working days.

Yeah it is usually within a week, but can be longer. Like another poster said, medical issues take longer, and you normally have to send them proof did you do this? I know you mentioned you had surgery, if you included proof of this with an explanation as to why you need expedite you might be lucky :)

i keep reading that when the expedite is acknowledged, the response is 'you'll hear back from us within 3 weeks'

but I can't for the life of me remember anyone who's posted it in the last 4 months..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I was told "we will let you know in 30 days."

I never heard back from them, b/c the petition was approved, so now I have no clue what is in our file.

All I know is: a speedy NOA2 does not a clear path make. We lost a month due to NVC not receiving it yet.

The only truly expedited paths I have seen here on VJ were for Japan & Haiti.

I requested an expedite at CSC and the next day I received an email from the adjucator requesting that I fax a brief letter explaining why the request was being made and a few pics of our most recent time together. I sent those over within an hour and a few hours later he emailed me back and said he approved the expedite request and should have an approval in 1-5 days! I thought it was really cool because once the expedite was approved that same adjucator processed the rest of my case and sent all personal emails to me. When he approved my case he sent another personal email giving me advanced notice that the case was officially approved. I felt kind of special for a few days... until my case fell into the NVC black hole. lol
