According to a new survey, women play video games nearly as much as men, and "enjoy" gaming more than they enjoy other activities, like working out, shopping, taking a bath and having sex.

Commissioned by Doritos, the survey of 2,052 people found that 49% of women play video games online, compared to 50% of men. It also found that women play online games longer than men; women said they spent 23.1% of their time playing games online, while men said they spent 22.3% of their time.

Of these female gamers, 84% said they "enjoy" gaming, 75% enjoy taking a bath, 71% enjoy shopping, 70% said they enjoy sex and 62% enjoy exercising. About 17 percent, or one in five women, said they play online games in bed.

So what's the story here? Some sites are erroneously reporting that women prefer gaming to sex. And mentioning the statistic about gaming in bed (why does this matter?), it makes it seem that, if given the choice in the bedroom, women would rather harvest the hay in FarmVille than go for a roll in it.

Ultimately, the survey states what we've heard before: Women do play video games. Whether it's Angry Birds, World of Warcraft or Call of Duty, is it a surprise that many women like to play video games these days?

And why was this survey conducted by snack-maker Doritos? To promote the launch of their new Facebook game, of course.

But the real question is: do women enjoy playing video games more than eating Doritos?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

The correct title should be "Women Gamers prefer gaming over sex"...The survey only included women gamers...

I just saw that after reading your post. It's a bogus survey for a FB game. Gaming can be addictive as crack though...like those WoW freaks.

Break it down by age group. It seems the more desperate women get, the more they enjoy sex. Men, however, just seem to prefer strange, whether they get it regular, or not.

Purely speculation on my part. I wonder if there are stats to prove, or disprove my conjecture.

Close I would say. They say chicks get hornier as they get older...and it's the opposite with guys. Maybe that's why the cougar thing is so big these days. You see a lot of chicks doing guys who are old enough to be their son.

In Ukraine, women call a vibrator a "joystick" at least that is how it translates. They do not play video games so what else would they call a joystick? Your comment is still valid.
