I recently got married to my Canadian wife and we filed her I-485 for green card. The problem is I accidently sent it to the Phoenix lockbox instead of the correct-Chicago lockbox. What should I do at this point?! I know it was a very stupid mistake, but I am not sure if I should file again to the correct place and cancel the check and write a new one or not?

Ah that sucks!! I can only imagine how frustrating that must be :bonk:

From what I understand, USCIS will send you back your package and you'll then be able to send it to the right address. It'll take a week or 2 before you get it back though. So sorry this happened to you :( But the show will go on once you're able to mail it to the right address, everyone makes mistakes! It will work out in the end.

When you get your package back, overnight it via courier to the Chicago Lock box Courier address so it speeds it up a bit.

Is there a time limit for when I need to file by, after I got married?

I'm not the most knowlageable on K-1's but I do know you have to be married within 90 days and it is preferable to send it the AOS before the date on the I-94 expires. I dont think there will be any issues if because an address mixup, your AOS gets there a couple of weeks past the date.

Try doing a search, I'm sure others have sent it their AOS a bit late and have reported on it.

Maybe others can chip in .

That address is WRONG for K1 AOS applicants.

One of two things will happen:

1. They will forward it to the correct place (could take over a month to hear)

2. They will return it to you.

If you DO get it back the CORRECT address is here:

USPS:

USCIS

P.O. Box 805887

Chicago, IL 60680-4120

I sent mine to the wrong address too last June 22, 2011 but luckily they rerouted my AOS packet right away. My biometric done last July 14th 2011. I hope they send yours to the right address too.
