Okay, getting a little nervous for my flight in 2 days time. I'm travelling with baby food, a few toys, and 2 large suitcases of clothing/shoes and a few baby books. I know I need to declare my son's baby milk as food, which is fine, but do I need to declare household goods? It does say on the declaration form that residents must declare goods purchased abroad, but what does that mean for us immigrants making our big move? I don't want to NOT declare anything and get in trouble/fined, but do I really have to declare E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G?

Basically - What would I fill out for Q15?

Do you think you are carrying goods worth more than $10,000.00 if yes then you are required to declare. If you are just carrying regular househould stuff then you really dont have to declare and all they care for is food and organic items, contra bands, excess hard cash.

I have never heard US customs stop ppl coz they did not declare valuble items.

Where's your POE?? Houston told me do not declare or itemize anything but write "household goods" on the form. Doesn't matter the total value. If you have new items purchased at duty free or gifts, then list them. BTW Duty fee isn't that good of a deal on the UK side coming this way so resist. If you are carrying $10,000 or more in cash, then report it.

I spoke to the supervisor of CBP at IAH airport before coming with my fiance carrying 6 suitcases between us. Wanted to make sure it was okay that my (USC) 3 pieces containing computer equipment and men's clothing wouldn't be a problem since I wasn't an immigrant. Your timeline mentions San Antonio so I thought maybe you were doing IAH too.

Here's CBP numbers you can call in Dallas to ask your questions about how you should fill in the customs form for them. Explain you mean the form given on the plane so they don't get confused with the big customs forms that go with shipped unaccompanied items.
