Hi everyone,

My French fiance sent his packet 3 on June 30 and he still hasn't gotten any response at all. Has anyone else waited almost 4 weeks for an interview date?

Does anyone have a phone number we can call to make sure we didn't do anything wrong? He has tried the American Embassy in Paris at 33 14 31 22 222 but they transfer him to a line that is never picked up. So frustrating.

Our wedding date is coming up..Sep. 17, I'm starting to worry he wont have it in time! How long after the interview does it take to get the visa?

Hi Britney. I feel your pain...my wedding is October 29th...I don't know how much help i can be, but have you tried calling the dept of state? My fiance and I had problems receiving our packet 3. From doing research on here, i learned that the dept of state is the "mother" of everything. They can pull it up on their computer.... all the information that is currently available. You just have to ask the right questions. I am not sure whether you know if they received your packet 3 at all. But this number will tell you that. And if an interview date is scheduled, but the letter got lost they should be able to tell you that too. On average it looks like two weeks until people get a date for the interview from the time they send.....our packet 3 got lost somewheres and i had to call the dept of state to check the status of it. i was then told the embassy had sent it on the 30th and yet still had not received anything by the 14th...they told us to call and have the embassy send another, however no answers, so, my fiance went to paris (hour and a half away) on the 15th and gotten it straightened out. And received our packet 3 days later. It seems something is going wrong at the paris office bc a few people have not received the packets when they should have. Good luck!! Keep us posted! DOS #1-202-663-1225...some of the people are rude but i got really lucky the second phone call. very helpful. Christy

I am right there with you also. They sent my fiancee Packet 3 but she has not received it. I called DOS and they said contact the embassy. So I will do that tomorrow.

It seems Paris is "out to lunch" on communicating with interviews and packets. The DOS lady said call them.

I suggest the same for you.

Bonne chance! We all need it.

thank you so much for your advice! I will try the department of state tomorrow and my fiance is actually at the embassy in Paris right now. Hopefully we get some answers!

Brittney,

VERY GOOD! that he is going there in person. they might try to tell him he needs an appt even though it is friday (open to public)...damien had to insist that he had a problem and that he needed to find out info on an immigrant k-1 visa. once they knew it was immigrant and not non-immigrant they let him in the building. calling the embassy beforehand got us nowheres. in person-- best method. we received our packet 3 within 3 days after that bc the embassy pulled our file up and resent asap. atleast with DOS you know what information is available, what date did embassy receive it, if they received it, if they sent packet 4 yet...etc....dates they were sent out and such. Now i worry about our packet 4 with the interview not being sent out on time :(....good luck again!!

I emailed the consular section in Paris today and got a prompt response. So, things are moving along finally. They have a backlog of mail to be dispatched.
