My wife received her EAD/AP "combination card". It says that now they do combination cards with are both EAD/AP. However, it does state that it does not guarantee admission. We are currently in the process of AOS. Does this mean that if we travel abroad )let's say Mexico, they may refuse admission back??

I hope someone more knowledgeable can answer this but it might just be like the immigration visas. My K-1 came with the exact same warning.

From what I understand no visa is ever a guarantee of admission, but she is allowed to and they would need major reason to deny her (like if she was carrying drugs across the border).

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

Thank you! I am actually trying to take her to Vancouver for the business trip, but I just learned from another person on VJ that Canada will require visa with EAD/AP card :( > I guess I will go alone.

Keep in mind when traveling that it is the passport that is used to travel. The name on the airline tickets must match the passport. Any visa requirement between the passport's issuing country and the country being visited still must be met. The only difference is the GC or AP card allows the foriegn passport holder to enter the US without requiring a visa. The only people who are guaranteed to be allowed re-entry to the US are citizens--even then there are exceptions. So that is why they state that re-entry is not guaranteed on the GC. This is because you have two different government agencies at work here. The USCIS who issues the GC or AP and the CBP who grants re-entry. So USCIS cannot guarantee that CBP will let a GC hold back into the country, hence the warning. But as stated before, unless you are out of status or doing something very illegal, you will be allowed re-entry.

Sorry you have to travel alone--can you get a Canadan visa for her in time? Took all of 5 days to get a visa to visit Kazakhstan including 3 days in the mail system.

Thank you, Dave. Unfortunately, I cannot. I have to keep her Russian passport handy for the interview for AOS on the 28th, flying out to Canada first week of August. Just feel bad to leave her here alone as she is still adjusting :(.
