Congratulations!!

can someone clarify something for me please...so based on this OP's first experience, does that mean K1 filers are NOT allowed to do any traditional engagement? Are the consular officers in Lagos equating traditional engagement to wedding or what? Afterall in Nigerian/African culture, engagement is different from wedding!...

Does this mean anyone going for the K1 interview has to categorically deny any form of traditional engagement/parents from both sides meeting each other formally? This is scary!

Now i understand the brideprice aspect and i know that could be a ground for K1 visa refusal, but what about "traditional engagement"? Am confused!

thank you everyone. i pray for everyone going through any visa process, best of luck. i have always had this believe that it can be delayed, but it cant be denied.

@ SUAVERIKKY, my thoughts to you is, try to avoid anything about introduction or engagement generally during your interview. dont ever open any door for that question, because it is one of the questions that messes a lot of K1 fillers up in Nigeria, if i had known visa journey forum before my first interview, i wudnt have been denied of my visa for any reason. jst let the CO know that you have a good relationship with your future inlaws.

and dont forget to explain to them how you plan to do your wedding when you get to the US, cos thats another question they ask, jst to know how serious your relationship is.

feel free to ask any question, cos my joy is to see everyone here join thier spouse.
