Am so greatful to God Almighty, and all the VJ members for making my journey to be with my husband in the US a dream come true. this forum has helped us so much.

our journey started last year march 2010, when my husband filled a K1 petition for me, every thing went well with the petition process and i was given an interview date on the 22nd of october 2010. i was prepared for that interview, with a lot of proofs to show that our relationship was solid. i had a lot of high hopes and never ever thought of disappointment, i thought because my relationship was real and solid, i will get my visa automatically. but unfortunatly i was given the shock of my life. on the day of the interview the CO asked me some few questions like

CO- who filled for you? how did u meet? whom did he come to visit in nigeria when u met him? the question that changed the whole story was...... have you done a traditional engagement? and i just said YES, he asked me, was any bride price paid? and i said, it was paid and was returned back to my fiancee family showing that thier daughter wasnt for sale. immediatly he asked me to show him any of the engagement pics, which i did. The CO looked at me and said....sorry mam, i cant issue you a Visa, cos this is not the right petition to file. I felt so bad and weak, and i tried to explain things to him, and he said to me again , i cant issue you a visa, tell your fiancee to file the 130petition for you. and i went outside with tears in my eyes to meet my fiancee, we felt so heart broken. and he decided to follow the cASE up, they invited us again for a second interview, were we met a nigeria man who interviewed us separately, And he asked me so many question and threaten to barn me if he ever finds out that i have done any of the wedding, either traditional, white or civil. he called my fiancee upstairs and asked him few questions again. so when we left the embassy dat day, we decided to cancel the petition to file an 130 for spouse. we quickly rushed down to the marriage registry in abuja and got married. my husband went back to the US in November and quickly filed an i130 petition for spouse. it took about 5months to approved it and we were given an interview date for July 11th. i was so scared and nervous, had too many things goin through my head while am preparing for my interview. i and and my husband visited this VJ forum like 5times in a day, going tru questions, reading about other peoples experience, finally on the day of the interview, i had many proofs like pictures, emails, call record, western union, photocopies of his passport,. i was fully ready this time. so this is the questions i was asked by the CO

ME-MARYLAND

CO-HOW DID YOU MEET, WHEN DID YOU MEET

CO-WHAT DOES HE DO FOR A LIVIN

CO-HOW MANY TIMES HAS HE BEEN BACK

ME- 13TIMES

CO-WOW, THATS A LOT OF TIME,

CO- HOW DOES HE COPE WITH ALL THESE TRAVELLS AND WORK

ME-WHENEVER HE IS DONE WITH A PARTICULAR PROJECT, HE TAKES TIME OFF.

CO-WHEN LAST DID YOU SEE HIM

ME-HE IS OUTSIDE WAITING FOR ME.

CO-HAVE YOU BEEN HERE BEFORE FOR A K1 INTERVIEW BEFORE?

ME-I SAID YES, I WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE CO THAT INTERVIEWED ME LAST TIME SAID I WA MARRIED.

CO-DO YOU HAVE PICTURES, EMAILS, CALL RECORD

ME- I BROUGHT OUT HIP OF CAL RECORD AND PICTURES AND EMAIL FROM 2005

CO- I WIL ISSUE YOU A VISA, PICK UP YOU VISA NXT WEEK AT THIS ADDRESS,

and she gave me a sheet of paper and i left with smiles on my face to meet my husband outside.

this is my visa journey story. i am in maryland with my husband,,,,,, what a dream come true.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
