Hi would like to hear from people who are filing or who have filed an I-130 with the US Embassy in London UK. Whats your story and how long did the process take? I'm an April 2011 filer for my spouse and son. :)

Hi,

my wife and I are about to file in London. We are very confused with the various types of information in the internet. How long does it take to get the IR1/CR1 visa when filed in the UK? when will we be able to move there?

Anyway, I'm writing to you to wish you luck and to ask you a bit of feedback from your experience, since you are just 2/3 months ahead of us...

Thanks,

Toni

Hi. I'm a DCF Jan filer. My husband and I filed Jan 21st. I-130 approved on June 20th. Medical booked for July 29th. When we filed everything was moving pretty slow and our application was sent to Rome for processing. Everything seems to be moving much faster now, your I-130 will be approved in no time! Good luck.

Hi toni_kat I think it depends on how many other people have filed at the same time but we filed on April 26th and it got approved on July 15th and got the letter through the post on 23rd July. So that was just under 3 months, but I know it usually takes roughly 5 months.

Now we are waiting for the package to arrive in the post for the next lot of forms to fill in and to book a medical. Then I think once you've done that you will get your visa interview. So I would say the whole process could take from 3-6 months depending on how busy they are.

Good luck to you too and keep us updated!

Shermeen&Adam, sounds like you've had a horribly long wait, that would drive me mad, and also a little worrying to think that your petition got sent to Rome! The Embassy must have had way too many petitions which was really bad timing for you. I'm glad everythings getting moving for you now. We seem to have had it pretty easy so far, so fingers crossed it stays that way!

So your medical is coming up soon, let us know how it goes, at least that will be another thing off your mind and can get the interview appointment set up.

We filed for me on February 17, got the letter approving it on June 30. Right now we're gathering the rest of the documents. I'm waiting for my police certificate. I have my medical tomorrow.

Got my husbands Police Certificate thru yay! Taken about 3 weeks altogether from posting to receiving.

So I have now sent off forms DS-230I & II and DS-2001 and his medical is booked for 26th September!!

All falling into place now... :)

How did the medical go? Sorry I didn't see your question about mine at the time. It was very smooth and professional. I saw two medical staff, a doctor who gave me the examination and another who took my x-ray. I had already got the immunisations I needed (MMR and TDAP) in advance on the NHS for free, so I didn't need to see the nurse. I was there maybe an hour and a half, much of which was spent in the waiting room.

My police certificate took a similar length of time. I got my interview date two weeks after my medical, so hopefully he will either have his date now or get it in the next few days.

Your timeline is encouraging. Our process is very similar to your own. I married my husband (UK citizen) in 2008 and moved to the UK. Got my permanent leave to remain here last year. We just filed our I-130 in June and we were approved in August. He's going for his medical the week after next and we're sending out the DS-2001 this week. It seems like everything went very smoothly for yourself. Do you mind my asking when questions your were asked at the interview? I'm incredibly anxious! Many thanks in advance :)

I filled in May, now waiting to send the forms off to NVC after paying the bills. When can i book my medical?

After your I-130 is approved you'll receive packet 3 and schedule your medical exam then. Your spouse will need to get a UK police certificate in order to schedule the medical though.

(I am filing through the London Embassy)

I believe most of the people on this subject did DCF. When you get your NVC# you can book your medical, just make sure you have the police certificate to take with you.
